Next week? Maybe for some places if the forecast I see holds…60-even 70? Then cold again weekend of the 14th, but much will be lost. Fingers crossed it won’t be too bad.

We have been spoiled this year but would be nice to have some good spring skiing once it’s spring…

Agree, the forecast for Sat thru Wed is disturbing and conditions will definitely be impacted! Hopefully areas have made plenty of snow and can groom things out. Even though it’s late in the season maybe some with do a little top dressing when temps allow so we can go later into this month & into April.

Beast Patroller After March 12 or so there is a return to winter, at least now it is saying that. Natural snow trails will take a hit next week though

lotsoskiing Agree, hate to see the warm up but as long as winter returns (and stays for a while) we should be okay. What sucks is I was really enjoying the packed powder conditions. With the warm/freeze weather, conditions will change dramatically moving forward.

Same thing happened last year, which was obnoxious because like this year, we were just getting into good snowpack.

Skiing today was dreamy at Mt. Ellen. Even ungroomed softened by noon and was a hoot. Will be full-on spring skiing in a day or two, then back to winter, I hope

It seems like at times the amount of doom and gloom and quickly running to the absolute worst weather scenario situation around here is tiring….

Just go out and ski/ride and enjoy. Since just as it does EVERY year, eventually its going to melt and ski season will end

DrJeff Well it may be tiring to you but it has been an exceptional season for a change and some of us aren’t ready to see it go. Rest assure, we are still going to go out and enjoy EVERY day & run we can until it melts!

Well, I just had the most enjoyable day ski trip of the year up to northern Michigan within an hour from the Mackinac Bridge at Otsego club in Gaylord and then Boyd BOYNE Highlands, March 4 and five. Hundred percent open terrain with ballroom smooth grooming, softening up at a 3:30 PM night ski start time at Otsego on Wednesday afternoon with glorious sunshine very few skiers kind of like the old private ski club atmosphere which I never had but can envision. It’s a nice creamy soft edible groom job there

Thursday morning at Boyne Highlands very similar condition is not quite as soft, but the sun was doing its job and I finally wrote a bubble six pack worth $15 million and also riding a couple center pole quads for a very wide diversification of lifts.

The biggest thing I found out was the amount of natural snow still in the north country up by Gaylord there had to be at least a foot and a half of natural stone on the ground, and the flower piles were astronomical whereas down well below Cadillac Michigan and the greater Grand Rapids area there is really nothing left at all and we were golfing last week and the week before so it’s really two different climates and it was good to see the winter climate and all it’s gloriousness before the spring temps hit today

The crazy weather inversion really hurt this weekend. I was amazed at the melt and the summit of WV didn’t get below 44 degrees last night. I think the base reached 34 degrees. I found brown spots where there weren’t any yesterday. Lots of melt……..

Yeah the recent weather has done a number on the snow. At my house in Northern CT. we had about 2 ft. of snow on the ground before the warmup & rain. Most of the ground still has snow on it but I saw more grass today than I’d like to at this time of the year. I was even able to walk out to survey my pool this afternoon w/o having to walk in the snow. Who knows what I’ll have left after the next two days? I’m going up to B’East tomorrow & Tuesday so I’ll give a report when I get back.

Well I spent Monday & Tuesday skiing at Berkshire East. Both days were absolutely beautiful with full sun but the temps were in the 60s (too warm). The snow started off a little firm but soften up by late morning with plenty of corn to go around. They were holding race training on Competition both days during the morning but otherwise not crowded. Tuesday morning brought mostly ungroomed condition (to preserve the snow) but the skiing was still very good and once the sun softened up the snow ski patrol opened up Grizzly & UMass trails. B’East has excellent coverage on the trails and even the woods still has good coverage Providing we don’t keep getting these unusually warm temps, they will have no problem operating into April.
