Saturday 3/14/2026 - Team NELSAP once again “competed” in the Annual Hannes Schneider Meister Cup at Cranmore. The biggest fundraiser for the New England Ski Museum. https://skimuseum.org/hannes-schneider-meister-cup/ NELSAP had a prior commitment so Mrs. ski_it filled in as the team captain. Conrad once again joined the ski_it clan; ski_itJR, daughter, son-in-law and myself as well as a few guests. Conrad led the team followed by my daughter (2nd time on skis this year) and ski_itJR who snowboarded. Myself? Well looking at my past times I was consistent - bad. 191 out of 203! This rec skier needs some lessons. What do I do when I hit the flat after the last gate? The same as I always do…continue turning! Doh! But you know what? It’s still fun. I saw smiles all over.
Kamden Burke, who I believe has now won at least 5 in a row, again won the men’s division. Hannes Schneider (the 3rd maybe) turned in a respectable time for Team Schneider. Club Arlberg had some top times too. Thanks to Cranmmore and the volunteers.
It was great to catch up with Conrad & others and take some runs together. Friday’s dinner had a good crowd and the deck at lunchtime & apres Saturday was mobbed. My only complaint is I wish the Bavarian Bros would tone down the PA on Friday night, especially since they have a the full drum kit, so you could actually hear/talk/understand to the person sitting right next to you.
7/7 lifts 44 /62 trails 3” new 30F to start. 40s later Partly cloudy no wind. Powder refresher lasted a while as it was only a couple minute wait at the express in the morning. Sunnier well skied areas turned to more loose gran but no where got slush. Trails in the shade stayed PP/LG. Race course was in great shape.
Included with the $125 registration: Friday hearty buffet dinner, Sat. lift ticket, barbecue lunch, apres ski bratwurst, intercontinental breakfast on Sat & Sun , 2 race runs, live music by the Bavarian Brothers Band, opening ceremony with Color Guard, vintage ski fashion show, awards ceremony, a silent auction ski-related prizes, and a Sunday morning presentation of ski history with renowned ski historians.
