Sent it up 93 to ski Cannon this weekend. It was beautiful sunny day in the low 50s with tons of corn and rocks! Most of the open trails were holding up pretty good and you could dodge rocks with ease. I bet by next weekend it will be a bit more bare. The terrain park still had huge jumps that were fun to hit.
It was cannon’s pond skim was on Saturday and they had a great turn out. Probably 40-50 people participating all with great costumes. I brought a costume but missed the morning sign ups.
Some trails like profile only had a narrow strip available to get onto the main part of the trail. They had the younger ski patrollers running sleds of snow down to keep building a small bridge of snow.

I drove up with a few friends planning to meet up with more people and tailgate in the parking lot. The only problem was someone forgot to bring the grill. YB (Ya Boi) knew that wasn’t going to be a problem though. Years ago I was touring up cannon and met some old timers who offered me some beer. They had tucked away a hidden grill on the mountain. I grabbed my cooler and skied over to scope it out and sure enough they were. Apparently it was the first good weekend day of the season they had for using the grill.
The guy Dave running the grill was a huge chiller and cooked all of our food for us. Another guy made steak and pepper sandwiches, put them on a platter, and gave the tray to my buddy bernie to hand out to everyone.

Still to this day I try to pick up as much trash as I can. I helped Dave clean up the woods and carried the trash out. Which I do not recommend trying to hit side hits with a 15lbs bag of trash swinging next to you.

Despite taking a huge chunk out of the nose of my board in the last 30 seconds of the skiing I give the ski day a 10/10!
