Discussion Thread Categories

Near the top and left of center of my homepage for SnowJournal there is a little drop down menu that seems to categorize the display of threads by Latest, Newest, Top, etc. What’s the difference between some of these categories? Particularly latest and newest?

Here’s a quick explanation I got from the forum software community …

Newest (Discussions): This option sorts discussions based strictly on when the topic was originally created. If you are looking to find the absolute freshest, untouched conversations, you use “Newest”

Latest (Posts): This option sorts discussions based on the date and time of the most recent reply. If you sort by “Latest” (sometimes called “Recent”), you will see threads that are actively being bumped or commented on right at the top, even if the thread itself is quite old.

Another dumb question: when looking at a long thread how do you quickly get to the latest post rather than lengthy scrolling?

Look to the bottom of the right-most side, at the bottom of the timeline widget, you should see a link labeled “Now” to jump to the end
