Black Mt. NH to add Mid-Station to Triple

I wonder if the point of a mid-station isn’t to unload beginners but rather to upload skiers (like SR’s Locke triple) during early/late season? I haven’t skied there in a while nor do I understand exactly where the mid-station would be. But perhaps it would help reduce the amount of snow needed to open (especially the flattest bottom part) and help them stay open longer?

Maybe but the runout held snow pretty well through the end last year. It was the pitch that took a beating with the angle of the sun. I think this is a nice beginner alternative to the platter for snowboarders. Beginner snowboarders have a real hard time on the platter.

It is for beginners, not for uploading. Number one complaint in their surveys. They widened Lower Maple last year in anticipation of this.

You’ve got the extremely short tow and then you’re up to the Platter which is difficult to ride especially for snowboarders.

Will beginners find it awkward unloading at a mid-station? If a beginner is so new that they cannot ski the greens from the top of the triple, I would imagine a mid-station unload could spook them a bit. The mid-station operator is going to be quite busy! Are they going to slow the lift down to beginner friendly speeds?

I hope they fix unloading from the top of the triple too. Too flat. Lots of people getting hit by the chair going around the bull wheel
