What is the best ski area in New Hampshire?

OK here is my personal preference.  I’m going where I want to go.  I’m basing it not only on the mountain but also base area interaction, ease of finding a spot to boot up, ambiance, general vibe, and other factors important to me.  

Only listing places I’ve skied – if you want to rank places I haven’t skied, there’s a reason(s) I haven’t skied them that has nothing to do with access or availability, so they would be at the bottom of the list instead of the middle.  I don’t know what the skiing is like, but I know why I’ve gone elsewhere instead.

 If I had to do it as a disinterested journalist this list would be MUCH different.

I ranked it 8 out of 11 based on vertical then number of runs. Which isn’t to say that it is bad or anything.

I don’t think there was any requirement to explain any answer and while each person’s answer is subjective, one can’t deny that it came in the lists as a “bottom 3” consistently.  It’s a fine area - but so are all of the other 10 and one has to come out on the bottom.

A few observations looking at the summary list above:

1. Size matters.  The top 2 (Cannon and Wildcat) were both 2000 footers.

2. Size isn’t everything, 2000 footer, Waterville Valley comes out at the bottom.

Well, I hate slogging around the base area…. the lodge is down in a hole, the lifts are spread out pretty far, the various lower pods all ski short. But to ski off the top all day you wind up going through the flats a lot, or on skiers right there are two or three more or less identical trails. I could go on but there just seems to be an undercurrent of small irritants that the terrain isn’t fun enough to make up for. YMMV
