Question for Mountain Creek experts

<p>Just noticed that Pipeline is no longer on the trail map. Seems like Great Gorge North/Granite peak is losing trails every year. </p><p>I am not sure why they dumped Pipeline. It was one of the only true challenging trails left. </p>

at best it was open in fits and starts.  Guessing they didn’t get much return from it, and got tired of throwing resources at it.  Not much left of the old Great Gorge North!

It has not had snow made on it since the movahill ers began a few years ago. It got opened up to three times its width by the qasline people who cut trees. So skiers right is all ledges and boulders. If the used the origional trail, a fence would be needed the whole way down. This way nobody would venture over into the open boulders. Also, pipiline never held snow with the new jersey type skier on a steep like that. I think taking down that many trees on a western facing steep would just be to much wind to keep snow now. Ill be suprised if mc gets fully open this year. I think they may skip the run off south that was the old liftline of the double. Also may skip upper straightaway at vernon and maybe even gran prix this year.

I hiked it aug of 2014 and it still had all its hkd guns and lights. I wonder if they got the guns off it.

They have been racing on kamakazi and big bear every day since they have been both opened. This closes trails on bear peak to the public. I guess the racing plans for the new hidden valley NWAC ate still on hold so they may be more races at south creek using the runs?

Yes the season started rough, but something is seriously amiss if they can’t get 100% open when there’s been sustained cold and the nor’easater came through.  I imagine with the NYC location their snowmaking system is very powerful.

Pipeline even on good snow days was always closed and not sure why. It was never really hard at all.. All but, the first 100 feet. Can’t believe it’s closed though.

We have passed on skiing Mountain Creek the last couple of years, opting for the long drives to VT. After driving back from VT this weekend, at least there is snow at Pico, it was crazy to come back to NYC to see FEET of snow on the ground yesterday (yes, we waited an extra day as we had to dig a spot out and Sunday was bad, yesterday was too).  wishing we brought our skis back to hit the creek..  I am happy for the snows down here - that mountain, as much as I can’t stand how crowded it gets is essential to NYC area skiing and is arguably the best mountain within 50 miles of this city..  They needed the snow as well as the others in NJ/PA and NY and CT areas….    This snow, I hope last them the rest of the season which I think will………

Non skiing aside, I remember seeing lots of fights when we visited class action park back in the 90’s.

I have seen many altercations there both skiing and in the summer park. The website has proved my huntch wrong. They are making snow on all trails that are not yet open. Going for 100 percent coverage. Oh btw, I never had any real issues with other coustomers but was asked to leave or removed both in summer and winter. My fault of course.
