Wow, that is a huge amount of terrain between the legacy mountain and the new trails. Looks like more vertical too? But there can be some incredible glades in there. Wish it were closer.

Their new map has been released for the season:

That map has the new cut marked as “future expansion”. Does that mean it will not be “open” this season? Perhaps if there is enough natural snow?

Looks like there is a massive amount of tree skiing potential in the drainage between the new trails and the main mountain. Looks can be deceiving though when it comes to tree skiing… but I imagine those beavers are going to keep working with that type of drop in now available…

Looks like a bit of a flat out to get to the downhill part of the new terrain or am I imagining that? If so, works for me….

Yes, future expansion. No immediate plans for a Summit lift for the additional 250′ of so extra vertical. Trails have been cut, but not destumped and cleared.  Yes, RivercOil, there is a bit of a mild grade/traverse to get into fallline skiing from what I have seen. The center 20 feet of the trails should be fairly clean, so with a 2 foot plus base it will be great hike to terrain.  Some of the pitches have southern exposure so they may be hit or miss.There actually is more terrain between the freshly cut trails and the existing trails than what the map depicts. Black is in dire need of a map upgrade, but like most small/mid-sized mountains, finances are tight.  This photo shows the vast terrain of the East bowl: The East bowl has a great pitch, but is a nightmare for navigating through, as it is one giant boulder field.  We do have a couple of routes blazed in there for future glades. The Beavers have been busy and will be right up til the first snow. Rumor has it that BigRock will be dismantling the comet and sending it to Black Mt Maine. Any truth to that, Sam?

Blaze I haven’t heard that one, and would highly doubt it. I can’t imagine what interest Black would have in a lattice tower double from 1970. The next potential lift projects, wich are only being talked about in a theoretical sense, are a surface lift up Moxie and a surface lift replacement of the current T-bar.

@rickbolger and I had the pleasure of finally riding the T-Bar a couple weeks ago. That thing has the potential to lift you at a couple towers.
