Stowe tickets hit $124

"Stowe’s ticket prices have increased by 35% in the past five years and 63% in the past ten."

That 35% increase is nearly 5.0x inflation.  That 63% increase is over 3.2x inflation

I guess we now know who’s footing the bill for the $80M rentals and lessons building … us!

That price is ridiculous. I just can’t understand how anyone would ever pay over $100 for a single day of skiing. :-/

Why not?  What’s the price of playing a round of golf at Pebble Beach?  $400?  Not apples to apples….okay, pick a top notch golf course here in New England and you might easily be in the $150 range.  So, why not?  Maybe it doesn’t fit into your budget, so then don’t go there.  It’s all about what the market will bear….do you think the parking lot at Stowe will be empty this season?

There are plenty of “New Yorker’s” who care how they spend their money. Were not all Manhattanite’s lol. Stowe has branded itself as a bit of the Aspen of the East with its latest round of upscale Slope side accommodation in my Eye’s. I would feel more comfortable paying $124 if they had a terrain or lift expansion. The product on hill has been the same for quite some time. If your wanting to take an Upscale vacation though Stowe is the place to be. I think Ill keep the greenbacks in my pocket and head to MRG where you can ski two days for $30 more……….

When it comes to Stowe and its prices, I vote with my feet (i.e. I go elsewhere!)  However, the fact that they can charge that much and still get crowds means they are NOT charging too much.

This is from Feb, 2016. Not sure how it holds up still. They list Vail/Beaver Creek as the most expensive at $175. Deer Valley is #10 at $126. Stowe isn’t even on the list as of this writing.

I think anyone who skis those places must feel like an idiot if they pay full price. I’m surprised that Winter Park & Steamboat are on that list.

Don’t forget the extra $5 for an RFID card at Stowe.

I think there will be other places in VT. breaking the $100 threshold this year. Stratton & Okemo come to mind. Think Stratton already did last season (not sure). Killington already posted their everyday walk up window rate will be $105 this season (everyday). Sugarbush is still under with a $97 everyday rate (weekdays & weekends) & $99 holiday rate.

Buying online can be substantially less. For instance Stowe is $92 online.

I’m happy with my $459 weekday pass (early price) for Killington. Even happier when K announced last week that my weekday pass is eligible for the $299 Max Pass add on (previously only available with an unlimited pass). I can ski 5 days at Stratton & Okemo, 10 days (weekends included) for only $30 a day if I use all the days. Max Pass is also good for 5 days each at several other northeast resorts plus a multitude of western resorts (yes Steamboat & Winter Park are on that list). Such a deal!

I don’t understand how ski areas like Killington charge the same amount every day of the week.  You go midweek and lifts are closed.  If you charge full rate, you better have all lifts open.

Killington was $94/$96 last year. Not much of a difference between weekday/weekend I think. Only thing I’d like to see is the Canyon quad run everyday. Needles & Bear not running during the week is no big deal.

I am lucky because I get a Military Discount and usually find myself paying $25-$40 less than what anybody else would pay. Also places like Gore mountain knock off the price if you bring a non-perishable. What other areas offer $$$ off their rates?

Okemo has their weekend rack rate listed at $101. Mt Snow, Stratton have yet to post their daily rate afaik.
