The new owners have put out a new trail map for the upcoming season. Any thoughts?

Actually, I take that back.  This is one of the better CG maps out there.

Agreed- What makes it better than the others (Gore, Stowe, et al) is it has trail numbers and a key, rather than crowding the whole map with trail names. Much nicer to look at.

Confusing at first.  Are the dark green areas supposed to be evergreen (spruce and fir) forests and the grayish-white areas supposed to be broadleaved trees?  Or is that patchwork simply random?

I think they are supposed to be conifer vs. disiduous trees.  My one complaint is that it is hard to determine which way a couple of the connector trails go (like which way is down on Link? does Broomstick go downhill all the way to Black Line or is there a low point at the Magician crossing?).

I noticed that as well. It was intermediate on the old trail map. I remember it as an upper intermediate trail which could really go either way.

Good point. Link is left to right, while Bail Out is right to left, and so is Broomstick, and it is so all the way across to Black Magic.

Potter should be a diamond.

I like the map.

<p>That is a nice map and a great update from the previous map. I wish they would finally admit that the vertical is about 1450′. I hope to get there this year.</p>

It would be nice if they could eventually redevelop timberside. They need to get the existing area squared away first, but so far it seems like they’re doing a good job.

The new ownership group does not own Timberside, and I doubt there are plans to try to buy it. So IMHO it comes down to whether the current Timberside owner wants to either operate it in partnership with Magic, or lease it to the Ski Magic Ltd. I view both as near term improbable given the 5 year plan is full of items to accomplish and Timberside wasn’t one of them.

I don’t think there is even a lift left at Timberside… I’m sure that is definitely NOT on the horizon.

Solid map.  Some lift and/or trail lengths with verticals would be cool.

I think the only map with trail lengths I’ve seen was the post-card sized map of King Ridge.
