So …

Sunny Slopes (Clue 1) in Andover NH had a 1000-foot rope tow. (Clue 2)

Ragged Mountain is an open major ski area nearby (part of Clue 3), but it looks like it’s not closer than 2 km. And is there a closed ski area 2 km away (part of Clue 3) that had a secondhand chair lift?

You could argue Woody Glen was bigger in some ways. I try to not get into semantics, so we’ll just say it’s ambiguous.

The other areas that are closed (to skiing) and bigger are twice as far as Ragged (KR and Highlands).

The owner Tom McCanna sold me a few old ski patches on eBay 15 years ago and included a letter about Tom’s Tow with the patches. We corresponded a bit, and he gave me directions to the property.

I'm just trying to figure out how an incomplete chairlift operates. My mind goes to the original Thorn single chairs, which were probably disassembled to create a T-bar lift at Whittier, but that's where that lift's end is met. In that way, the chair was technically incomplete as it was heavily modified.

Could incomplete mean heavily shortened, maybe?

I'm stumped!

I am trying to figure out a hint without making it too obvious. You are not on the right track with your thought process.
I can say that another ski area nearby removed a very similar chairlift

Would this "incomplete" chairlift be a one-sided double-double? If so, the only example I can find of one that's been relocated is Mt. Peter in NY, but it doesn't appear from their website that they have any summer operations.

1. This open area operates an incomplete chairlift from a now closed ski area in a neighboring state. The Comet Chair is half of a double-double moved from Split Rock. The second side was never added at either mountain
2. A famous Sultan was rumored to ski here Babe Ruth learned to ski here
3. As of this past spring, this area is used in four seasons In The Four Seasons remake on Netflix, they filmed the skiing scenes at Mt. Peter
