Nice report Dr. Jeff. I'm going to try next weekend but with the amount of rain forecasted for today IDK. Yesterday was really nice. Like most areas, they could have opened a lot more terrain. Everything on Northface was open & pretty nice except Olympic & Boulder Pile but peeps were poaching them. Ledge was still open & the top flat but the middle section was bumped nice. Uncles was closed but I did the woods off Ridge and skied the lower 2/3's and one point wasn't any narrower than Ledge, the rest was fine.

It does look like from this vantage point you could put a longer halfpipe right where the trees are fallen without moving any snow making.

And the official answer from mtn ops about those trees coming down is that next season, the plan will be to move the jump line on Inferno a little closer to the half pipe and then combine some of the snow for the North wall of the half pipe into use for the base for that massive last jump on Inferno to more efficiently use the snow from 2 adjacent large snowmaking items. Some reworking of the piping in the area will be happening as well this Summer to allow this to happen.

Patrol does seem more conservative this spring when it comes to opening trails. No clue why Boulder Pile was closed. In the past it seemed like they would just put up a "thin cover" sign if there was any route down and let you have at it. Little disappointed in them.

Nice reports and good info all season from those that frequent Mt. Snow. I finished up on Saturday - probably won't make it back before they close. Perhaps a Wildcat day late in the month.

Olympic was rope up apparently this weekend due to the staged Snowmaking pipe for Freefall being in part of the trail down at the bottom.

Also looked to me from looking over there from the chair that the excavator and/or groomer(s) that dragged the pipe up the hill after segments were welded did a number on the remaining natural snow pack there as you get ready to cut back under Outpost

Agreed on Olympic, runout was sketchy looking anyway even without that work done there.

Get it while you still can this coming weekend. Officially announced that closing day is this coming Sunday, the 14th, and that they won't be reopening for another weekend after that

It's really nice with a T-bar, indoor skating rink, pool, ball fields, playground, hiking, scenic views, picnic pavilion, and an outdoor stage

April 13, 2019 Sat. 51 of 86 trails, 4 of 20 lifts. The day started out foggy on top with very icy stiff trails. Carinthia was softer. Around 11 the skies cleared and things softened nicely. Lots of corn snow and it never got too soft. It felt pretty warm, no jacket required.

They had groomed Free Fall flat so not many moguls around except on Ripcord. There were skiers in no shirts and in shorts. Really nice skiing.

They already pulled all that pipe in place along Free Fall. Lift maintenance on going.

What's with the green snowmaking pipes? It looks like the pipes were just thrown into place. And they're unsightly!

Ski_it seemed to think they are new to be installed. It looks like there was some digging already around them.

Well, they're obviously not in the final location as they have the eye loops on the ends still from hauling them up. The green is FBE (fusion bonded epoxy), its standard on nearly all new pipe installations as it reduces corrosion over time.

Yes, and the old pipes are still in place.

Yes, I thought some of you might want to see how they rigged them. They brought them all up from the NF base and got them all basically into place in less than a week

You could see the cats working to drag them up on the time lapse webcam shots from the Bullwheel cam overlooking the North face midweek last week.

Had the excavator and a portable Miller Electric welder at the top of Freefall Thursday morning

April 14, 2019 Sunday - 51 of 86 trails, 4 of 20 lifts. It didn’t freeze overnight so the trails were soft right from the get go. There was plenty of snow on so many trails for the last day of the season. Ego, Plummet, Canyon, Cascade, Sundance were wall to wall. The forecast mentioned rain so the place was empty. I didn’t feel a drop until my last run and even then there was nothing. The Choke, middle Ledge, Plummet and PDF (despite how the pic looks) were lots of fun. I didn’t feel like fighting the hoard for the last chair so instead took the last Golden bubble of the season a few ahead of the last chair. Why either matter idk. And so I ended a great season at day 43 with a solo run down Sundance.
