Cosco?

Tell ya what Remski, I thoroughly enjoy following Jim Dawson on his teleskis, and JD knows how to turn 'em. He dives down the backside of the Avalanche prone backside of Caberfae easily a 45 degree pitch and makes it look like a green

Oh btwsorry for the extreme hijack

That’s why I’m here, to make ya all feel more secure on your area choices.
That 3 o’clock line was exasperated by having the entire Sunbrook area closed IIRC before noon, and the Grand Summit too due to the wind. The Bluebird ran slower with plenty of stops. We got a few thrilling rides on the GS as the wind really hit right at the unloading zone swinging us to and fro like a small boat in the ocean. For “Mt Snow” it was not that big a crowd.
They did have the snow report backwards Sat. Because Sunday it was MG then HP with 60 trails and 1-2 new came down.

I skied Mt Snow on Monday, January 28. Bluebird day with no Bluebird lift, as it went belly up before I arrived, and was down all day but still no lines Firm n fast snow, with pockets of a fresh couple inches on the edges. Lot's of trails needed a refresh, but no snowmaking to be found despite single digits temps. Bear Trap was an ice sheet on one side, bare on the other. I didn't ski North peak, except River Run,, as it looked really solid. Not my best day.

Wow it must have gone downhill fast. I skied BearTrap a few times Sunday and it was flat & fine on the right. If you found that there, probably a good call on NF.
What was wrong with the Bluebird?
Chuckstah
The sign on Bluebird just said down for maintenance, or something like that when I arrived at 11 ish. Never asked why? Maybe I’m spoiled cherry picking some days lately, and my dislike of frozen granular, I don’t know. But when I can’t get an edge in….maybe my lack of skill, IDK.
ski_it
I’m doubting it’s a lack of skill. More power to you if can cherry pick

Feb 3, 2019 - Sun. 85 of 86, 19 of 20 lifts. Started out cloudy/foggy on top with the mist freezing on my googles. 10-20°F. In the late afternoon the sun came out. The snow held up pretty well even though it got a little sticky in the natural areas on lower Carinthia. For this area it was ghost town since it was Super Bowl Sunday. Lots of trails that haven’t been open much this season had good coverage. Unfortunately when I left early Monday morning it was already well above freezing and the snow was melting off the roof.
Some pics for Cisco of Boulder Pile and Jaws (originally Jaws of Death) on the North Face.
Four & four.

Thanks B
Great work at Magic too
Love these pics
If I had Mrs ski_it follow me down I might make it
She's got a heart of gold, oh those jersey gals gonna be a great grandma
ski_it
Heart of gold yes, but you don’t see her in any of those 8 pics do ya?
Just kidding. She does follow me (for some reason she doesn’t like to be in the lead when I ski) down most trails, except when there’s rocks, brush, glacial ice formations, etc… observed. So we know who the smart one is, right? Although I did get her into a couple glades and part of Ripcord last weekend. That one gives me pause these days… Okay, everyday…..

Feb. 9, 2019 - Sat. 48 of 86 trails, 16 of 20 lifts, 10-20 degrees, sunny, wind not a factor. Pretty firm underneath and lots of ice floes around. But they were blowing lots of snow on several trails. Not very crowded for MS so the skiing wasn’t bad considering the rain they got this week.
We took in some of the Season Pass Holders Appreciation weekend events like the Q&A with senior management & free tubing apres ski.
Didn’t learn too much at the Q&A but kinda felt bad for the panel at times. “I can tell we have approval for 100% snowmaking.” Next question, “what trails will get snowmaking?” .... “The ones without snowmaking.”
A few complaints about out of control & speeding skiers/riders

skied am express 7:30 to 12:15 today 2/16/19. Conditions were very good although it was breezy. Less wind on the North Face. No crowds there all morning. That was where to be after 9:15. I did do a couple on the main face during peak time via singles line on Grand Summit. Packed in a bunch of skiing in 4 ½ hours. Felt like I managed it well.
AM express from Summit
AM express from Lodge - interesting cloud
There was a request for a picture of One More Time.

Power went out late in the day, so they kept the bluebird open an extra 15+. They ran Challenger on diesel to get people out of the nf. A friend and I decided to hike out and beat his sis back to the bluebird by a good 15 min. It's an easy hike up the old rope tow line then across Somerset Rd. Felt like about 10 min to get to the Boonies. Skiing was better than expected over there, didnt thaw/freeze too bad.

Very manageable day today... Did 7:30 until noon with maybe a 30 minute midmorning break at the summit lodge. Got in 18 runs and just over 20k vertical feet in that time.
Lapped the main face from 7:30 until about 9:30. The trails that got an early groom last night after the rain before the slow freeze up were a bit form, but totally edgeable. Snowdance which got a late groom between about 6:30 and when the Moover picked me up about 7:10, was very good. Plummet, Chute and Timbers all got a couple of runs on them. Big Dipper and little Dipper were skiing great on groomed natural snow, same with Narrow Gauge.
I can also report that the just after 3PM power outage DIDN'T effect the taps in the Station Taproom!!
All in all a very solid, but manageable kick off to Presidents week
