<blockquote class=“Quote” rel=“rickbolger”>Planning to bring a family member to Mount Snow next Weds for their grand introduction to Vermont skiing. Call me concerned…
Recent reports seem to emphasize lift stoppages, slow lifts, closed lifts, power failures, and diesel operations.
What the heck is going on?

Let’s see… Lift stoppages - that’s a people trying to get on/off the lifts and not doing to well at it, not a mechanical issue 99% of the time
Slow lifts… Yup, when you ride a fixed grip, it’s slow and Mount Snow has a few that are slower than others
Closed Lifts… Yup, sometimes they have to close them due to weather, and sometimes they’re on a schedule where they open and close at set times. Occasionally their closed do to mechanical issues
Power Failure…. Just like sometimes at your own home there can be power delivery issues, that happened last Saturday and a few transformers blew
Diesel, all related to the power issues when they were running some of the lifts on back up diesels to limit the electrical draw on the rest of the system
The nice thing is next Wednesday, when Mount Snow would typically be running their mid week lift operations plan, they’ll spin 10 or so lifts, and if something happens, there’s multiple other combinations and options to get you up the mountain with access to all the terrain. The only way that you couldn’t get to all of the terrain would be if either the winds are blowing too much (typically 40+) or there’s an icing issue.
