I would think their chain lifts would still count as the tracks were definitely "in the air"?

We will see.

I gotta comment/ question thrown in , what is the longest thread on sj2.0?
Any with more pages than this?
TomWhite
It is a long thread. Good time of year for it.
No, not Mt. Snow, those were what I would call aerial.
ski_it
Well Arrowhead just had a Cat for a while. Eustis had a snowmobile. Didn’t someone use a bus or was that out west?
But you said chair...and easy..
Longest? Ask Quint. And I thought it might be my, guess these 42 ski areas but that was only 4 pages. You peeps are good!
TomWhite
Yes, chair.
First clue, but I should have started with this, it was in New England. So that's two hints.
TomWhite
Like the skimobile, chairs didn't ride directly on the ground/snow. But it was not suspended by an overhead cable.
NELSBEER
Not what you are looking for,but the Mount Washington Tramway has/had lots of seats and isn't aerial except for it's tressels. ⛷️🚂. Might be longest and most vertcle as well.

Le Massif used busses only for a number of years.

Rick is correct. It's interesting, Larchmont made something other than snowmaking.
I don't know how to copy n paste photos. That's the only photo I know that Rick links.

Love it , never saw this short lived baby

In the interest of keeping things rolling, I'll kick over to NELSBEER for clever thinking re. the cog

In the absence of a new question in over 24-hours, here's an easy one to keep the thread going:
Which two areas in New England
1) Started as 2-separate areas
2) Combined into one area
3) The combined area became NELSAP
4) The NELSAP area re-opened, but only on one of the two areas

Bobcat and Onset Mt, which today is the new Crotched.

Magic, Timber Ridge also should work for this question
joshua_segal
As I said, easy question. Between Ibrakefortbars and xlr8r, you got it, so either of you c an take the next question.
Crotched was first area. It became Crotched East of the combined ski area before going NELSAP. It remains NELSAP. Onset was the second area that became Bobcat that became Crotched West and after being NELSAP re-emerged as just Crotched.
Glebe Mountain Farm became Timber Ridge which became the "Timber side" of Magic Mtn. before going NELSAP. Magic returned, but without the Timber-side.

ski it, a tiny area called Moose Hill in Spencer, Mass., long gone, used flat -bed trucks with benches. Ski down the 200 or 300-foot vertical, ski onto a snow ramp, slide onto the truck, sit on a bench, ride to the top of the hill, slide off on another snow ramp, repeat process. I guess it was a bench lift rather than a chair lift. They operated weekends and holidays. Skiing moved on, but it was fun at Moose Hill while it lasted.

Thanks for the info Bill29. And thanks Tom for that bit of trivia. Very interesting. Not sure if I was aware of that Ascutney contraption or not. Going to have to go with NOT.

Name 2 (there might be more) New England ski areas that have had at least 3 lifts on a single trail at the same time (small beginner areas consisting of handle tows, rope tows and magic carpets don't count).
