I took 2 buddies to Black yesterday. I asked for you but you were off, I guess at Hermon. There was good cover just too sticky on ungroomed terrain. Speaking of grooming, with the snow not deep on non-snowmaking trails, was a roller rather than a tiller used?
In the afternoon the toe of my friend's boot broke off during a fall. It was near the beginning of St. John. He skied the mile down on one ski. The boot lost parts as he made his way down. When the other friend through the blue foot bed into the woods, I had to hang back (carrying a ski) so the single skier couldn't hear me laughing. He was sliding most of the way on the boot liner. He was given the boots last year. By me!

Too bad I missed you, I usually don't work Fridays. The trails with thin cover were groomed using the tiller on our older groomer. It doesn't dig as deep as our newer machine.
And I would have loved to see that! :D

Conditions were great today with 4 inches of new snow overnight! The wind made a few exposed parts icy, but most areas stayed in good shape all day. Everything except Allagash, St. John, and Lazy River remains open.

The only part of the boot story I didn’t think was funny was, “ When the other friend through the blue foot bed into the woods”

No, even though the friend was wearing mittens, he or I should have found a pocket to put the foot bed in, not through plastic into the woods.
There's more on the friend's boots. Those were my old boots. That night, all three couples were at the broken boots house for dinner. I brought him another pair of old boots. But wait. Yesterday at Savers (like Goodwill stores) there was a pair of Solomon Wave boots. That fit fine. There was no price, so I showed a clerk another pair of good boots for $6.99

I don't know what happened. Here's the full post with a couple edits:

Yesterday at Savers (like Goodwill stores) there was a pair of Solomon Wave boots. They fit fine. There was no price, so I showed a clerk another pair of good boots for $6.99. She said, sure and sent them into the back room for pricing. I left voice mail with my friend and went to another store. While there, he said, yes, so back I went. The boots were still in the back. The same clerk brought them out. She saw that they didn't mark them at our agreed upon price. They were $5.99! I still took them. I'll let my friend choice which he wants.

As of January 10th, the new glades have yet to be fully skied and enjoyed as designed. There are some exciting new zones in the East Bowl that are expert level with drops and steeps. There is much to discover as the Beavers have logged nearly 750 man hours for 2019. Many improvements made for improved flow. Granite Backcountry Alliance contributed an additional 750 hours in developing Rumford Whitecap and the 900 vertical foot Merrymeeting glade off the backside of BMOM. There's now an 8 mile two peak tour option, with variation. New signs for (3) kiosks will soon be installed. One at the base of BMOM, one at the BMOM property line, near the summit and at the "backcountry gate" that leads to Rumford Whitecap. The other kiosk will be at the trail head on the west side of RWC. There have been a fair amount of users of the new Osekare Uphill trail which is just to the west of the ski area's ski trails, just beyond the outer perimeter of the Allagash, This uphill course is a dedicated trail that is totally isolated from downhill skiers and riders, making for an enjoyable and peaceful experience. There are several points along the route to join the Allagash for shorter tours. BMOM has a boundary-to-boundary policy and with over 500 acres of woods skiing, as well as the options to ski to RWC, the $15 uphill ticket is a good deal , including all base lodge amenities. Hopefully, after this weekend's blowtorch we'll return to favorable conditions for woods skiing.

Spring conditions today. Although it did reach 50 degrees, there was cloud cover which kept us from losing too much snowpack. There was no rain during the day today, but the mountain will be closed tomorrow due to the ice storm.

Record high of 67 here and I'm betting the local places are losing alot of snow. It's currently 60F.

While there is still lots of snow and skiing at CM, it's pretty safe to say that all the natural snow cover is gone.

Sugarloaf didn't lose any snow, currently it's heavy sleet there with freezing rain above Spillway X-Cut. My local hill, Ski Sundown made it through the thaw just fine.

They definitely did lose snow. It got up to 50 around here yesterday.

Why are you arguing this point, I have friends who skied there yesterday. It was near 40F with no rain. Freezing rain and sleet overnight into today.

Snowing at Sugarloaf currently, looks nice. Don't see a bare spot anywhere on the cams.

Pretty significant snow loss at the resorts in Southern and Central New England. Currently 66F here and sunny. Mid 60's all the way into Southern NH and Vermont.
