James.... back in the 90's, I spoke with one of two brothers who operated exclusively for the Burlingame family the tows and lift on the Drumlins golf course property. In that interview, he made mention of the Burlingame family owning Song Mountain and how Syracuse University was constantly trying to buy it from them with no success. SU did obtain the property on Dutch Hill, Tully Valley as a second choice which they leased to the Onondaga Ski Club. In 1960, the Burlingame family finally sold Song Mountain to John Chapman instead of the persistent Syracuse University. I do not know exactly what the "riff" was between the two parties (which was eventually removed) but I do hope this little story will shed a small light on the relationship between the two.
