Trail maps that are underwhelming

Wow, that Gore map is breathtakingly terrible. Sugarloaf had a map from the same artist a few decades ago that was similarly awful.

Well they have Nubs non old center pole doubles from the early sixties
And I have yet to ride them

Seems like a common problem with some trail maps is the trees are too big making the mountains look small.

I think that we, collectively, have been spoiled by Niehaus maps. Most of the "underwhelming" maps posted to date are 100% functional.

A more interesting question might be: Who has a non-Niehaus map, that is as good or better than a Niehaus?

Mount Abram's map is also very underwhelming, it doesn't even show a number of newer trails and glades. They had a newer map for a year or two, but that mysteriously disappeared.

I always thought that Ski Big Bear's map was underwhelming. It's not a big area and nothing there is really hard but the map still doesn't do it justice.

Keystone (which is NOT my favorite ski area) has a really nice map done by KM Mastin -- maybe not superior to Niehaus, but equally pleasing and a nice change of pace. Apparently did a Southington map recently.

Very nice. Without the signature, I would have mistaken it for a Niehaus.

I doubt they are going to do away with the topo map even with the Niehues option.

Kevin's work is spectacular. I've known him for a while; he's a true artist, and takes great pride in his work. Super guy. He redid our maps at Ski Cooper when we did the Tennessee Creek Basin expansion (see https://www.skicooper.com/coopwp/wp-content/uploads/2019/11/Both-Trail-maps-for-Website-Mountain-Stats-page.jpg)

I really liked the old Killington topo trail maps. I assume there were other areas that had them too.

I really liked the old Killington topo trail maps. I assume there were other areas that had them too.

Wildcat had a topo, great map. There Niehues is pretty good.

Hunter had a topo map in the early 1980s. That Gore map from the 1980s and early 1990s was a disaster.
