conrad Was just looking at Berkshire East's 2 year old trail map, and while it may be a nice piece of art, it makes it look like a cross country ski area! New map: https://skimap.org/data/435/2200/1574037802jpg_render.jpg The old map, on the other hand, makes it look like a solidly steep ski area for Massachusets. midatlanticlost rickbolger;c-43983 wrote Agree that Ski Big Bear isn't nearly as underwhelming as its map. Forgot about that one. Not often you see a map that looks like it was drawn on some old MS DOS program! You sure that isn't an old entry from one of the "design a ski area" threads? :D
rickbolger LOL. Believe it or not Big Bear has a really nice lodge. It looks kind of like a 1990 Poconos hotel from the outside, but it's actually good, clean, and functional. If you haven't been there, trick is to just buy the morning ticket. Around 11:30 the entire resort village finishes watching cartoons and flocks to the ski slopes
newpylong The Trail Map that I sadly built for WB a number of years ago is pretty underwhelming haha: https://www.whaleback.com/trail-map

Agree with Trackbiker, if you made it the actual shape of the mountain you wouldn't be able to follow the Ivory trail around the back. This way people can figure out how to get where they want to go. Nice work, someday I'll get there and add that to my collection :)

Quietman NewEnglandSkier13;c-43978 wroteMount Abram's map is also very underwhelming, it doesn't even show a number of newer trails and glades. They had a newer map for a year or two, but that mysteriously disappeared. https://43184a335zzjnwm17496scqd-wpengine.netdna-ssl.com/wp-content/uploads/2020/02/teail-map-1.pdf The "newer" map is quite horrible itself. Sorry that its not a full scan, my home scanner is limited.

midatlanticlost NewEnglandSkier13;c-46698 wroteYawgoo's new map is pretty bad. Holy cow! reminds me of the mid-90s web when people started using <map> tags to replace their menus with an image.
Brklynskier I wouldn't call it horrible, but the Plattekill map really doesn't accurately represent the double blacks.

mapnut One thing that's accurate about the Yawgoo map - the scale of the base lodge compared to the size of the slopes. (been there) What's wrongest about the map is that all the green slopes feed into a blue or black one. There isn't a green route all the way down. Actually, novices won't have a problem with that.
