the manifold on that sv10 is done due too a 200 foot run of 2 inch hose, easier to split at that gun than run 800 feet of 4 inch hose.

That's 1.5" hose in the picture, but that makes sense. Perhaps time to install a spur line in the off-season I can imagine the pressure will start to suck at those lengths especially with an SV10 which likes it high anyway.

sugarloaf;c-44816 wroteSnowmaking on again at Stratton Mountain, but only from the summit to mid-mountain. Snowmaking also at Bolton Valley.
They are also making some snow on runout trail to lookers left - coming down from URSA. They had made a few piles during the last cold snap but not much.

Guns and hoses at Sugarbush. Hammering Inverness at MEllen, Upper Jester, Valley House Traverse, Upper Snowball and Spring Fling.
Nice to see the snowmaking clouds above the ridge with the sun behind them!

I noticed when I drove by this morning that little ol Ski Ward in Shrewsbury, MA got in on the snowmaking with the cold temps this week. They had fan guns lit up on either side of the chair lift.

"Our snowmaking crew has been making progress at every chance they get, but Mother Nature has not been very cooperative. Looking at the forecast, our next chance to crank the guns at consistent cold temps isn't until next weekend, so opening the weekend of December 4th is sadly not a possibility. We'll look towards the following week but Opening Day will remain a moving target as we watch the weather."

Sugarbush is now Thursday December 3rd.......

There is the possibility of a strong storm next Monday/Tuesday. Right now it looks like mostly rain with a track up the Appalachian chain. Maybe some snow on the backside. After that, it looks like cold weather may hang around for a while, fingers crossed.

Jay Peak opening today with the Jet Trail and lift.

After the storm early next week, it looks good for snowmaking from late Tuesday on through the end of the week. Hopefully the Connecticut areas can open by late next week.

Bromley opened today, Sunday. Not exactly sure why they didn’t open yesterday but theories are: new season pass system not ready; wanted to open on Sunday which would eliminate some of the tourists who leave on Sunday; wanted to wait for a below freezing night before pushing out snow and grooming. It was a nice day and the cold last night allowed a good groom and helped conditions hold up today. It was, however, the definition of WROD. Although the snow was ok, it was narrow, definitely not edge to edge (some sections only 1/2 way across). One run TTB. That said, having been here the last couple of weeks, I have to give them credit for making enough snow to have the option to open, and actually opening. And I think it was a good day to work out the kinks with the new passes (which now require a hand scan for each lift ride), the new day ticket kiosks, lift loading and protocols. Mask wearing was exceptional. I never say anyone on line or around the base or top or near people without one. In fact most people had them on full time, including skiing. I rode one lift with someone else, seated opposite ends of quad with masks on full ride. After that first lift I was solo or with 2 of my kids.
Funny thing is how desperate I was to ski. I skied that one run 14 times! My kids thought I was nuts (they have a point). I just hope the snow gods recognize my commitment and sacrifice and provide some serious pay back! Think snow!

Sorry other than a pic of daughters it wasn’t pic worthy. There was a post on FB with a couple of pics. I’ll post pics when I take winter turns in lots of snow......

Loon ended up far exceeding my expectations yesterday (11/30/20). 3 lifts and about 10 runs that made up 3-4 'routes'. Soft snow, decent coverage, and no crowds.
NELSAP
Gore/Whiteface are supposed to open Friday, but I have my doubts, not a ton of cold air behind this system, and the lost a fair amount of cover in the torrential rains last night.
TomWhite
One good think about all this rain is, it's breaking the draught and filling snowmaking ponds.
NELSBEER
Yes, it certainly is nice to see the grass greening up finally.
