Spring conditions today! Everything is soft and temperatures are very warm. The mountain is still 100% open, but probably won't be for much longer due to a mostly warm forecast coming up.

The mountain is still 100% open and the skiing is firm and fast today. Many glades still have enough snow, but are quite firm and have some blowdowns from the recent wind storm. Because of how hard the snow is, groomed runs are definitely best today. It's Retro Day and there are some great outfits out there!

The snow is softer than yesterday and both groomed and ungroomed terrain is skiing well! Many glades are also skiing well if you keep an eye out for blow downs. There are some lines today due to a race, but nothing significant.

Unfortunately we lost a lot of snow over the week. Piscataquis, Saint John, and Allagash are now closed and bare spots are showing up across the mountain. Groomed trails are nice and soft while ungroomed terrain is moderately soft.

I had a nice day there yesterday. The Allagash and St. John's bare spots grew and grew. With cold night temps, is there a chance that snow will be made to cover some of the major bare spots?

Unfortunately no. Our snowmaking ended in January and there's no snowmaking infastructure on those sections of trail currently. However, they will have snowmaking for next season!

Yes. The pipe is in, but electrical wasn't finished for this season.

Yes, completing snowmaking infastructure on Saint John/Allagash has been a multi-year project and it will make a huge difference in the quality of how the mountain skis in years like this with not as much snow. The first section of the trail from the summit is very exposed to wind and sun and almost always has thin spots with natural snow cover.

Also isn't Upper Androscoggin the only trail with snowmaking off the top as is? Or does Pisqataquis have it too? When I went a few back that one didn't.

I can't imagine running 3 phase all the way up Allagash. Fan only infrastructure of that size baffles me.

Androscoggin, Swift, and Rapid have snowmaking off the top.

Update: Snowmaking will resume tonight to fill in some thinner spots on the upper mountain.

Androscoggin, Swift, and Rapid have snowmaking off the top.

Rapid doesn't start off the very top though. Swift was the other one I was thinking of thank you. So going from 2 to 3 runs off the summit with dependable coverage is a huge game changer.

Groomed trails are really nice today while ungroomed terrain is pretty firm. No crowds to speak of and snowmaking is set to resume later today.
