Hunter is a shell of what it was. No Hunter West Zephyr HSQ and it is Jan 22? What a joke.

Feb 2nd - I believe all of Vail eastern communications took the day off today. At Mt. Snow, lift communication status started the day OK but then they disappeared. Usually, one must follow Mt. Snow op's on Twitter to get any sort of update. Today, there was one update after the 8am opener at 11:30 and it was posted to the website but not twitter. And, I call BS on wind hold of GSE and Bluebird. The wind was up slope and had diminished by 10am. Icing was more likely the issue - with not enough staff to de ice I suspect.

Like I mentioned on another thread, Vail refuses to say anything about less than perfect conditions, even if it would be helpful for skiers to know.

I agree all around but this was BB at 11:15ish.

The wind was in the face skiing down the main face. I guess if vail saw that, they'd simply close the lift for the day rather than make any attempt to open it. I hope they run GSE tomorrow instead of Canyon.

wow - a month goes buy without any activity here - that's good overall I think. I didn't know this, shows something about me I guess, but Mt. Snow did not offer tubing this year? They blew snow on the tubing slope... so you could ski down to the lower parking lot? This seems stupid to me. Tubing is too dangerous? So kids can't go to school. They can ski, but they can't tube? The virus knows if your sitting on tube vs. having your feet strapped on to boards? Jeez.

I think it's more to do with the general concept from the corporate office on down that they don't want to have an "extra curricular" activities available that might encourage people to stay around in groups once they're done skiing/riding.
Vail's stance on limiting any non skiing/riding activities is seemingly one of the more restrictive of any ski area operating company this season.
And when you see other areas, all over the country, offering more options in areas like tubing or food and beverage options in a safe manor for what is rapidly now closing in on a "normal" length season, even through the spike in cases from mid December through mid February, one could make the retrospective case that Vail corporate could of had more options available in a safe way than Rob Katz chose to

Still plenty of Vail sucks going around, one month here, wow. Personally, I'm pretty much done with them. Been skiing mostly on the Indy (great) for the past month (with some Crotched and Sunapee mixed in). I haven't had much of an issue with the southern NH Epics to complain about, except crowds. It's the Northern NH areas sucking most. Attitash is beyond belief, but I'm straying from my point. I'm done with Vail, voting with my wallet. Maybe, just maybe I'll be back sometime if they fix things, lots of things, but right now I'm done.

Can’t complain cause I’m not going. Yet. Unlike many, many other quaranbreakers. We played a new exciting car game the other day on I-91N. Vax or No Vax? Subaru with a 60+ Couple, CT plates no equipment visible....Vax! SUV loaded with 20 somethings, NY plates and snowboards...No Vax!

My wife & I didn't use our passes this winter because of the travel restrictions & my company's policy of following all guidelines. Personally, we think that Vail was the worst thing to happen to Mt. Snow (more so than ASC) and unless we get an 80 - 100% credit on our unused passes we're done too! We're thinking about a B'East pass and a snowmobile.

It's been a tough season. Between the booting up, the lines, fogging my glasses with the mostly pointless outdoor masks, remembering to make reservations and forgetting to cancel them, forgetting my password, Vail's epic fail to make snow and open lifts at Wildcat & Attitash, and on and on. I realize these are first-world problems, but I think the people who chose to skip the season (and there are many of you) weren't as far off as I originally thought.
Honestly though, the only reason I haven't gotten max value out of my northeast epic thing is because I have just been kind of put off by all of the machinations involved. Also on choice days I've gone to Mt. Abram instead. And a snowmobile.
Which, if you have a lot of spare time and enjoy lying awake pondering why spark plus fuel doesn't result in ignition, will be the best purchase you'll ever make.

Snow conditions at Wildcat this weekend were very good on the groomed & recently groomed -- the ungroomed was too shiny and was roped off -- all in all it was a pleasure to ski.
Resort operations, however, remain epically dismal. When one lift opens, another lift closes. Seldom have I seen management do so little for so many...even the death throes of ASC at Attitash weren't as epically grim as this.
They are announcing next year's program in a few days. They'll need to have free beer and ladies popping out of cakes for me to buy again.

rec'd from Katz today:
Dear ,
On March 23, we will be releasing our 2021/22 season passes with some exciting changes we believe you will very much appreciate. But before we look forward, I want to address the challenges we faced during this incredibly difficult season and share our plans to grow from these experiences.
First, a follow up on our call center wait times. We are committed to a multi-year transformation to ensure we provide you the information you need, when you need it, and how you want to receive it. As a first step, we have spent the last few months overhauling the technical systems behind our guest service operations and are in the process of dramatically scaling the number of representatives available to provide you support. While we are still putting the fully expanded team into place, I’m pleased to share that we have doubled our staff of customer service representatives since December and plan to quadruple our staff by May. We will also be rolling out a much more robust chat offering. Our goal is to ensure that we can quickly answer your calls and messages and get you the information you need. While there may still be moments with longer hold times in the short term, I am confident you will see continuous improvement over the next couple of months and well before next season.
Second, an update on our pass holder reservation system. We designed the system to help safely manage on-mountain capacity during this pandemic. While we do not know exactly how COVID-19 will impact our industry next winter, we are not planning to have a reservation system next season. For anyone worried that the absence of a reservation system will lead to longer lift lines, we have extensive learnings from this season around lift loading efficiencies and are implementing new strategies to materially reduce wait times. And of course, we will also benefit from new lifts at Breckenridge, Keystone, Beaver Creek, Crested Butte and Okemo.
Our goal this season was to safely open – and stay open – all winter long as we worked to navigate the unique challenges of operating our resorts during this unprecedented pandemic. Because of your loyalty as a pass holder, our supportive communities and our hard-working employees, we will achieve that goal together. In fact, we are pleased to provide our guests with the opportunity to enjoy skiing and riding well into the spring as we recently announced extended operations at nearly a dozen of our resorts.
Amidst the hardships of this last year, we have come away with many lessons learned, a heightened sense of the importance of recreating on our mountains, and a renewed commitment to live up to our mission of providing you an Experience of a Lifetime. I am sincerely grateful for your patience and understanding, and I look forward to sharing our big news with you when passes drop on March 23.
Wishing you all the very best,
Rob Katz

Well the plot thickens, Watched a news clip this morning from WCVB 5 (ABC) and according to the story Vail has changed its mind on credits but there's a catch.
According to the story Vail is going to give a 100% credit to ONLY passholders who made Priority Day reservations but never used their passes. So it looks like the rest of us who couldn't adhere to the quarantine guidelines & travel restrictions and stayed home are getting screwed!
When is someone going to file a class action lawsuit and force Vail to do the right thing?

I saw this elsewhere. What a joke. If you used your pass 0 days they should refund you 100%. Who would wait hours (it was hours when they first rolled out priority reservations) to make a reservation that you knew you couldn't use due to travel restrictions. I hope this works out. They would be really stupid not do refunds for people in your shoes.

Anybody have any idea how many people are in each of these categories?
Beast Patroller
Found these on the Facebook Epic page.

Is Vail becoming the next Liftopia?
Beast Patroller
Well if Vail can't do the right thing this year there will be no next year(s)! They announced a 100% credit for passholders who made priority reservations this year but never used their passes. What about the ones who didn't and still never used their passes? Who (in their right mind) would make a reservation knowing that they wouldn't be able to come up and then deal with Vail's penalty for cancelling!
I talked to someone this afternoon from Mount Snow and he gave me the usual corporate B.S. and "tried" to transfer me to someone else only to have the line disconnect. Also tried Vail's customer service line and sat for 30 mins. on hold only to have the line start ringing and then go to a busy signal.
I've already filed my complaint with the Federal Trade Commission and next is my credit card company.
My wife & I are done with these losers and we're getting a season pass at Berkshire East and we're buying a snowmobile. The last couple of years things were getting out of control but this was the last straw. Hate to leave Mount Snow and we'll miss skiing there but we won't stand for this kind of treatment!

While there are a lot of complaints I still have received no answer to my earlier question:
"Anybody have any idea how many people are in each of these categories?"
or even:
"what percentage of the million-plus season passes Vail sold went unused?"
----
Please understand: I have empathy and hope that those cheated get satisfaction. I'm just trying to get a perspective on how big the problem is.
