New at Stratton early ‘60s, then to Bradford and then NE slopes for 70k. Pretty darn good resale. Do you think it was more than 70k new? ( just the unit, not installing)

Good looking trail at NE slopes

That's the one to skier's left of the lifts and main slopes. Really fun with a little steep shot at the end. The day I skied it the conditions were just like in the photo. Dreamy.

The cause of death of many small ski areas...along with warmer winters.

It's what killed Norwich's ski area. We had a few bad winters and then I heard an insane amount (50 grand or so) to be able to spin the lift. Didn't matter if we opened or not, just to have the capability to do so.

At that point the Board of Trustee's pulled the plug and sold the lift to Pat's Peak afterwards.

Count me in for a NELSAP day at Northeast Slopes. Been there a few times.... always had fun.

Insurance (liability and workmens comp) and electricity were my archnemesis at Whaleback as well.

The big rope wasn't running the time I finally got to ski there. :( Took a few visits to be able to find NES open. I did ride the little one. Looks like wood on their T-bar too.
Edit: I just looked at their trail map and they are called the Big Rope & Small Rope Tows.

Fun fact. The rope tow enclosure is a piece of the covered bridge that was erected for the movie Beetlejuice. The other piece covers the main tow.
