Vail Sucks 2021/20??

Ok folks, how many actual 1st hand cases of people do you know who got full refunds for cancelling or no showing for one Core Reservation and also didn't use their one day last season?

Vail Resort, Inc is sticking to their terms & conditions. No general travel restrictions, only if your state ordered a 30 day quarantine.

They must be making bank on their no refunds policies as they are now on their 2nd claims company. I wonder what the price difference was paying two claims companies, hiring additional personel (according to the CEO, certainly doesn't seem like it) to field complaints versus just pro-rating pass credits like they did the season prior? And like Indy Pass did last season. Must be a big, big dollar amount.

No doubt since the 2019/2020 season pass lawsuit finally got tossed out of court in October it gives plenty of impetus for sticking to the letter of their T & C for 2020/2021.

Our family had 7 Epic passes for 2019/20, several we paid for. By far, the best decision we all made was to only buy 2 Epic Ski Pass losers for 2020/2021. And zero for 2021/2022.

While I've been waiting for CM to open, I've spent time at Mt. Snow, Okemo and Mount Sunapee.

If we exclude Killington and Sunday River, who specialize in the early season product, the offerings of those 3-Vail areas are comparable to what their competition has open.

Okemo has double the trail count if you count real T2B runs and it's about double the size. Except for Killington and Sunday River (who specialize in the early season product), who is really outperforming Sunapee, Snow and Okemo?

Nearly everyone is outperforming Sunapee, they don't even have South Peak open yet (beginner terrain). Sunapee has gone from a big player in the state to one of many Vail outcasts. Ragged has sucked up their traditional local customers.

Also Wildcat doesn't even have the summit open yet.

But yes, the Vail answer is you can go to Mount Snow or Okemo.

Pats Peak is 54% open with 5 out of their 6 chairlifts running today. Wachusett is 61% open by acreage. While I never understand the December skiing hype, it seems pretty important to a lot of the New England skiing crowd which I don't think the people in the Broomfield, Colorado office realize/understand.

It's sad that Vail doesn't care about their N.H. areas and from the looks of the picture yesterday on F.B. they also don't care about Hunter Mtn. either!

Their response of "go to Mount Snow or Okemo" doesn't help with the overcrowding at those resorts either.

The only way to try and resolve this matter is to stop the inflow of cash to Vail and support the independent mountains instead. Once Vail sees their cash flow dropping they will either change their ways or sell off the areas that aren't profitable. Either way is a win / win.

Personally, I would rather see a New England season pass for their mountains and if anyone wants to ski out west they have to buy a add-on for more than they are currently paying for the Epic Pass. Naturally, anyone with a Epic pass won't have access to any of the N.E. areas period!

Could Vail’s oyvouyvuo ops at NH resorts be due to lack of real estate? As in focus efforts at those areas they can sell their overpriced lodging? $700 per night mid winter weekday to stay at Stowe on mountain.

Think about it: Mt. Snow, Okemo, Stowe all open about on par with other areas.

NH? Crotched closed… no real estate. Sunapee 2.5 routes + no beginner terrain… no real estate.
Wildcat 0.5 routes + bunny slope, booster pumps broken… no real estate. Attitash… limited real estate and they actually got their a$$ in gear and opened Cathedral a day early due to wind holds on Summit.

Epic Passes are no longer available for the 2021/22 season.

And don't just show up at the ticket window during the holidays, you might not get in. Buy ahead of time. As noted by others elsewhere, this applies to many other brands of resorts.

Vail Resorts will limit lift tickets at all of our North American resorts during popular holiday periods this season: Dec. 25 - Jan. 2, Jan. 14-17, and Feb. 18-27.
Pass Holders’ benefit tickets, such as Buddy Tickets and Ski with a Friend Tickets, will not be impacted. Ski & Ride School with lift access will not be limited during these three holiday periods.

Question. I can't seem to find any of Vail Resorts windows rates unless you go through the motions to buy a ticket. Anyone see where they are listed?

As far as the traffic to Stowe goes, seems normal. Pent up demand and I imagine mainly day trippers last weekend. Wow the parking lot has it's own Instagram site? What will they think of next?

The Stowe traffic looks eerily similar to the slow moving parades up Little and Big Cottonwood Canyons (Ikon resorts) on weekends and powder days.

I have always wondered how Wachusett (or any mountain for that matter) calculate their acreage because I think they always show a lot more than what is actually open. Is trail width factored in? I'd put the % open much closer to 40% if that. That should rise rapidly now that they have some more snowmaking windows after a long warm spell locally. It was a great manmade snow surface yesterday.

Crotched now isn't opening until the 26th (although Vail is still selling passes for the 24th and 25th). Also, they said hours of operation will be 9-5 daily. Does this mean no more night skiing for the foreseeable future? They keep blaming the delayed opening on weather, but we know they've had enough snow to open for weeks now. I wish they'd be straightforward with the real issue.

I am one who received full credit. I had an Epic NE Midweek Senior Pass for 2020-21. I made 5 reservations (VT + NH), but later I cancelled all 5 because covid-related restrictions prevented my travel from Virginia to NH and VT.

Epic provided me with full credit, which I used for a 2021-22 pass ... which I haven't used yet.
