I could have sworn we had a "Sunapee 2021-2" thread, but I couldn't find it.
2/14/2022 (Mon.) was lovely following the "Sunday freeze up".
My complaint: No moguls - but the trails were beautifully groomed. If you wanted some gnarl, there were a few glades available. It was the coldest day I've skied in recent memory with the windchill maximizing at -5º F after starting at -10º F.
I quit after only 13 runs and spent a lot of time warming in the base lodge.
Best run: Goose Bumps and Flying Goose. Not an icy patch to be found T2B.

March 21, 2022 - Mon.
After a slow start in Dec., Sunapee still has a deep base and could easily extend to Apr. 10 if they wanted to do so.
Monday featured pretty much perfect spring skiing with pretty much all of their snowmaking terrain open and skiing beautifully. North Peak was especially fun with its steeper terrain as the cruisers got slow with rising temps.
March 22, 2022 - Tue.
In contrast to Monday, Tuesday featured near-mid-winter conditions. While reaching the low-40s, the low humidity and the high winds, kept the surfaces dry.
The slopes were exceptionally well groomed, consistent with Sunapee's reputation.

Missing from both days were the several mogul-runs usually available at Sunapee.

After a pitiful start in December, with only 2½ trails open a few days before Christmas, they really got their snowmaking act together and are providing a great product.
With a deep base and 80% of their terrain open, they could easily go 2-more weeks. Surprised they aren't extending at least one week.

Thanks for the update. I plan to go Friday for my last turns there. Agree, the base is deep, especially on North Peak. I went to Okemo today. Still good and they made snow recently, but lots of closed terrain. They're shooting for an Easter closing.

April 2, 2022 - Sat.
Another fine day of winter (AM) and spring (PM) skiing. It took until 10 AM or so to fill the first parking lot. When I left at 3 PM, the 2nd lot looked to be about 1/3 full. No lines.

I thought that I saw you Joshua when you were coming down North peak. I skied from noon till 4:00 and really enjoyed the afternoon.

Sorry I missed you!

Fun morning at Sunapee today. It was one route from the summit with one short diversion to mix it up. Firm and fast. Too many beginners with no terrain for them, but overall the place was empty. Happy Thanksgiving 🦃

Hey, Chuckstah: I was there all day. How did we miss each other?
I agree with your report.

Never saw you Joshua. Hard to miss on one trail?

We probably needed something more obscure like a glade to run into each other! :)

For the first time, I visited Sunapee with pretty much 100% open. I have a new respect for the mountain.
Williamson is a lovely old-school natural snow trail twisty, narrow and scenic.
Many glades were open which I had never skied before. I ran into Chuckstah who, like me, is seriously into glades/woods skiing. We not only enjoyed what was on the trail map, we found a few that weren't that were a lot of fun.
And, this is the first time I've ever found more than a few short patches of moguls: great fun!
The complaint remains: except for North Peak and places where management decided to leave moguls - there is nothing more than Blue Squares and long runouts on the rest of the mountain.

Wednesday really was a great spring day. Great catching up with Joshua and taking a whole lot of runs. Hero snow everywhere, with all but one short section of trail open as far as I could tell. The glades were perfect, bumps close to perfection. I showed Joshua a couple of nice lines, one that I discovered just this past Monday. And yeah, the run-outs are long and mostly boring, especially on the front side. Nice meeting Blaze as well for a brief moment, and taking a quick run, glades of course.

Planning on it, driving to VT is getting old.
