As see at least two, maybe 3 different breaks where you put the number 4. Even if there were only 5 breaks, that would still make for 6 disconnected patches of snow, which is what was being guessed. Realistic, I'd say that there are 7-8 disconnected significant patches.
I still like my over bet if one is being completely objective as to the number of breaks in the snowpack on Superstar
Given the weather, Killington did the right thing. If it had been bluebird, I suspect they would have done Sat.-Sun. rather than Thursday.
Given riverc0il's 2016 photo, clearly, they have operated with much less snow.
Fortunately, DrJeff, we didn't have a real bet given the disagreement regarding the photo I posted. IMO, I thought I was generous showing it as 5 breaks. The one labelled "3" could have been groomed out with minimal effort.
Some have suggested that Killington, having made June 1, had nothing more to prove. They said the same thing to Tom Brady when he went to Tampa Bay. Back in the 1990s, what did they have to prove when they went to June 22. It's just what Killington does.
It's not like Killington is shutting down for the season when skiing ends. They just shuffle where employees are deployed. Based on the weekend crowds I've seen in May, it's pretty clear that they are profitable, as long as they are not still amortizing snow making costs after May 1.
