Yes, it is a brand and that's about all there is to it anymore. The original vision/concept is going out the window.

1. Compete with the corporate multi-area passes
2. Provide collective advertising to bring guests to lesser known/underutilized areas

And that's exactly what the Indy Pass is doing. What do you think the original vision was?

They always promoted it as a pass including only independent ski areas, and they continue to do so. While that may have initially been true, it hasn't been for a few years.

Wisp, Wintergreen, Ragged, Jay, Mt. Washington BC and Powderhorn combined do not have the visits of one mega resort.

Depends what you consider a mega resort. I have always considered Jay to be a mega resort. If you're purely talking about visitation, then places near urban areas, like Wachusett, have much higher visitation than most of the large ski areas in northern New England.

Who cares what the definition of mega resort is. Somebody just trying to throw haterade on the indy pass with pointless minutia non existant or misunderstood legalease.
As long as the indy pass does not go up significantly in price or put in all sorts of weird rules and blackout dates i do not care.
The mega resorts and their thinking and business thought processes are a blight upon the industry and the average skier.
I do not want to be enslaved to their pass to be able to afford to ski at their resort.

Indy saves money and provides a great variety of resorts to visit so does freedom pass and a couple others. I miss all the deals like st patricks day sales, okemos old canned food drive stratton black friday sales etc. Burke seems to be one of the few resorts i can think of that have a variety of mechanisms to save money on tickets and do clever promotions although i am sure there are others they are they one I can think of now.

"Haterade"....I like that term.

I will support any pass system that allows for skiing a variety of areas at a reasonable price, whatever it is called.

Agreed, I have gotten so much value from Indy this season and will definitely be renewing for myself and family. It's great to explore some old favorites and some new mountains.

Speaking of St. Patricks deals, Tenney has $17 tickets on Friday for the holiday. Wish I could make it.

I'll also go with being in the not very concerned about them being literally independent as much as I am with them not being owned by the handful of monstrosities eating the industry and offering me a way to ski a reasonable amount at a fair price, at places I like.

I think there is a big difference between 6 and 41.

Especially when they're mostly mid-tier places quite literally scattered across the continent and don't have a lot of power created by their being a conglomerate. Owning 6 ski areas in VT would be a very different position in terms of their power in the market, for example.

The "Indy Pass" is yet again showing it's corporate colors as it has blackmailed resorts across the country into leaving reciprocal agreements with Ski Cooper.

Yes, BMOM has, but I haven't worked or had a pass there in 2 years. Competition is good for us skiers, but the now corporate Indy Pass just cares about their bottom line. It's a much more aggressive strategy than before they were bought out.

Well since Indy is sold out, I have no other choice but to buy the freedom pass from caberfae will I be getting kicked out of the freedom pass Sam by the Indy?

So is the freedom pass from caberfae the same type of deal with buying from Cooper and getting yelled out by fish
