ME

Proposed: Upper trails at Big Squaw, ME

Brown’s Peak, MA (mid-1970s)

NH

Arrowhead, NH: As far as I know, they did this for at least a couple of seasons. [ca. 2010]

Mt. Washington, NH: Some limited ad hoc events + Cats up the 4200ft. The skier MUST free heel down the auto road until reaching Great Glen XC - no access to the ravines

Whittier, NH;  Gondola cabins bolted on the back of Cat.(1990s?)

NJ

Great Gorge - Vernon Valley, NJ (the combined area before it was renamed Mt. Creek): They used the CAT for one season [1977-8] to connect the newly combined areas.

NY

Belleayre, NY; did a regular snowcat service to Cathedral Brook for a couple years, mid 00s

Petersburg Pass, NY (After they cut new trails, but never added the lift to serve them) [ca. 1978]

Whiteface NY; Cat to the the upper runs before T2B lifts were installed.

Haystack/Hermitage, VT; (on certain days when their lifts are closed).  Members only.

Mt. Ellen (at Sugarbush), VT: Late season for at least a year or two. [ca. 2010]

Smugglers Notch, VT; currently runs them

Other odd ball situations that don’t really fit:

Blomidon, Newfoundland but not affiliated with a specific ski area

Bus or car service:

Le Massif, QC: Before lifts were installed.

Prospect Hill, MA: Beginner area was small, so the beginners were going to be bused to the upper mountain (which was very flat).  They had the bus.  It was such a bad season, I don’t know if they ever used it.

Wachusett, MA; In the 40s, a bunch of guys would squeeze into a car, drive to the top of the auto road. All but one would ski down; thhe other would drive down to pick up the others for the next run.

Excuse my previous post, it is actually $49 a person for Smuggs. It was definitely worth it. The Snow Reporter for Smuggs; Hugh joins you in the cabin and gives a great info session while going up, and boy is it bumpy. At the top we were joined by another groomer and it was great to take a step inside. They had winch groomed one of their steeper trails and bombing that with the sunrise was great!

Not sure this counts, but a number of years back in late March/early April, Plattekill was still open with their main snowmaking trails. Blockbuster, being one of them was covered. However, the connector trails from both lifts were mud. They had a cat or a sled or something running to get people over the mud to Block, which was spring skiing heaven.

Joshua, if you want to expand your bus or car service category to trucks, you can add long-defunct Moose Hill in Spencer. It was an area run by the Southwick brothers. It used flatbed trucks with benches mounted on the flatbed. It picked up skiers who skied on over a ramp at the bottom of a 175-to-200-foot hill and drove to the top, where the skiers unloaded by skiing onto another ramp and then down the hill. Worked pretty well for a small place open on weekends and dependent on natural snow.

If he was going to do that, he’d have to include the beloved, Bearpen.As for my recent addition of Plattekill, I re-read Joshua’s OP and see that the one day special doesn’t count!

Killington used to truck people from the base lodge to the Canyon Chair.
