My detailed glades reports are made unnecessary, by the fact that all glades are skiing nicely and I am even skiing them with my good skis.
Our HSQ ran, while we had refugees from Sunapee and Mount Snow where the main lifts were all on wind hold.
It was cold and windy. I would say, given that it was Presidents Day Week, that resulted in minimal lines and a day that was not, economically speaking, a great day.

Feb. vacation week turned out to be okay at CM. After an excellent opening on Feb. 15, we lost the 16th due to the snowstorm and the 17th -18th due to wind (although the skiing was excellent all 3-days). The 19th through the 22nd featured good crowds and some of the best conditions I've seen here in years, and I anticipate similar for today.
Quietman's photos really show just how great the various glades look - and they are skiing as nicely as they look!

You missed a spot :)
Seriously, congrats. I'll have exact change....

Congrats Joshua, that's always a great accomplishment.

42 miles an hour? Whew!!
Happy birthday!

I'm hoping to get in a final day at the Crotch later this week. Is the summit salvageable, or is it done for the season?

They ran the Rocket and west today (Weds. Mar. 19). Only Satellite Summit was open off the top. Pretty much everything was open at the bottom. West was open, but you had to ride the Double. Milky Way was closed. I expect pretty much the same Thursday and Friday. There is a good chance that Jupiter, Retro to Moonwalk as well as Milky Way may be opened for Saturday. There appears to be enough snow for one push and if it happens, it will likely be for the weekend.
I thought conditions today were outstanding given the meltdown/rainstorm of last Monday.

Thanks Joshua. I was at Sunapee today and it was good. The snow was mostly edge to edge, and should last for a while. I'm thinking Crotched Friday if it's not raining. I'm sure I'll see you at Sunapee next week if not Friday.

I assume no glades. Were any of the North Peak runs (Lynx, Flying Goose or Goosebumps) open?
Chuckstah

Glades are done. Lynx and Flying Goose were good and should last for a while. Goosebumps looked good but it was closed. It was deep but needs either a groom or some skier traffic to fix some undermined areas.

I went looking for a Sunapee thread for 2025, but in the absence of one, I had the day off from CM and went to Sunapee (3/20/25). Goosebumps was open today and for me, it was the best run on the mountain. In toto, it was my best bump day of the season with natural moguls on Cataract and Goosebumps, and manufactured ones on Flying Goose.

Earned turns were great today, had to leave a snowman behind. This is a snip from the top webcam.

Guess we should wrap up the end of the season at CM...
The long ago established shutdown date of Sunday March 23rd. proved prophetic.
Saturday 22nd was filled with sunshine, reasonable temperatures & lots of people to take part in or watch the day's events. Skiing was good, but the only way off the summit was via Satellite Summit, other summit routes had melted out. The morning featured the Cardboard Sled race. Pretty much unlimited registrations made for a long and entertaining show. The staff, as usual went overboard developing fancy conveyances & there was the usual unacknowledged challenge to run over the bottom barriers established by Ski Patrol...
By afternoon temps had risen to a point where Pond Skimming almost looked like a sane thing to do. This year the pond was shortened up a little to make successful crossings a little more likely, there were great rounds of cheers for successful challengers.
The 4 pm closing time was about right as the sun had done it's spring thing to the snow, when the sun dropped it 'firmed up' quickly.
Sunday the 23rd started somewhat darker, crowds were smaller. Satellite Summit, the only open trail from the top, was skiable only on the right side & tended to narrow throughout the day. Die hard skiers got last runs in as the Ski Patrol stripped the hill of signs, ropes & equipment. By the 4 pm closing the snow had turned to several inches of mush, skiers generally agreed the season was done & adjourned to the bar or went home. None of the, ",,,but they could have done another week", comments usually heard.
... there was more. Monday VAIL allowed an employee only addendum to the season on a cold damp day. Scheduled from 9-11, staff was allowed to come out and 'do their thing' on a hill unencumbered by ropes, signs, crowds & rules. The Rocket ran at its max. legal rope speed of 1000' per minute giving great turn around for runs. An impressive display of skiing and boarding ensued. Skiing on grass is common enough, but boarding 30' of gravel!? Ski Patrol stood by but wasn't pressed into any evacuations.
By 11am what snow remained on Satellite Summit was mixed in with rocks that had been kicked up, looking like a big bowl of mushy Chocolate Chip ice cream.
Mother nature put final punctuation of the day, the freezing rain picked up, ice started to form & the Rocket's sensors said "enuf".
...but there is still a little snow. So there will be a final 'earn your turns' park event on Saturday May 3rd. from 11am to 4pm. Using the remains of the lower CM Park features a mini park is built with as many features as they safely fit in.
$10.00 donation (goes to charity) provides access to the hill, prizes and the barbeque. Bring your OLD rock skis.
Its not fancy, but it is snow, and the locals will all be there...

Nice summary of the end of CM's 24-5 season by nelsbeer.
As of April 19, I wrote elsewhere:
"I had suggested that the Valley Area would still be T2B by this weekend (i.e., Apr. 19-20). I was wrong. There is still about 400 feet of vertical from the lower Start House on Meteor to Tower 2 on the Rocket; and a similar amount of vertical on Pluto's until Mountain Road."
Except for the large feature which will be used for the May 3rd rail jam, there no longer appears to be any substantial continuous snow patch on which to earn turns.

May 3, 2025 - Sat.
I was surprised to see the number of people who turned out for today's rail jam on the remains of the giant jumps in the Big Park.
Over the course of the day, I estimate that there were over 100 participants for what amounted to 100 feet of vertical per run. The park crew did a nice job setting up about 8-features in the relatively small space.
It's good that they didn't promote it more than they did. The trail was already too crowded!
joshua_segal
I didn't expect the rail jam to be my final ski day. I planned to go to Killington on Weds., May 7 and Sunday, May 11. Weds. would have been OK weatherwise, but Killington opted not to open. Sunday would have been OK weatherwise, but Killington opted to close for the season on Saturday.
All-in-all, it was a down season:
2024-5: Nov. 18 to May 3
129 days: 122 lift serviced
108 (101) CM, 9 Sunapee, 8 Killington, 4 Okemo
2.9M vertical, 22,400 vert. per day; 23,640 vert. lift-served day
One day max, lift-serviced: 70200

2.9m vertical, wow! Anybody else here even come close?
skelley19
2.9m is impressive! I got 68 days (62 lift served) and only ended up with 513.1K this season. Many of my days are just quick lunch break trips to Wachusett with about an hr on the snow.
