Gore Mountain 12/1/24
Conditions were really quite fantastic for early season skiing yesterday. It was cold- upper teens at top of ADK Express, 25-30F closer to the base. Windy with lower wind chills, but some sun. 5" of new snow from Thanksgiving.
Several routes were open - Tahawus and Sunway-Quicksilver-Jamboree to the base. Tahawus had early snowmaking, then it was turned off and was glorious:
Sunway also had snowmaking early which was later turned off. Full width skiing. New gondola cabins look great!
Quicksilver was also good, but got rougher later in the day, particularly near its final drop.
Snowmaking was in progress just about all day on Jamboree, which had some wet spots from the snowmking.
After lunch Sleeping Bear opened. 3/4 of it was good, either firmer snow or newly made snowmaking snow. There were some thin, icy sections.
And lower Powder Pass was also opened - it's low angle, but was good powder and a nice treat for Dec 1! All natural
They were also making snow on the beginner area and Wild Air, so more terrain should open soon with all this cold.
