Given that they are supposedly trying to not own it long-term, I'd expect they are trying to keep systems separate and not give Black some kind of privileged access to use Indy's systems/data/info if that's not something available to other Indy Pass resorts.

A magic carpet to the cabin? Sure. I’d ride that once.
But I think a functional hand rail for us senior citizens is not too much of an ask. I guess in M…land that meets code.

It’s their hulking POS/HMI interface, Their logo is across it. The “steward” is on site this year along with some of his staff he moved from Colorado temporarily. IIRC they were using a separate laptop as well.

But did you notice I didn’t complain about them having their best trail(s) closed the entire weekend Fri-Sun for snow making that I presume will be to make a PR statement in April or May?? Oops I did it again…

Team NELSAP at Cranmore was slower than normal this year. I guess we couldn’t handle the ice. My oldest was the fastest The winner of my age group almost halved my time. But still so much fun and to catch up with the team and others. Still a bargain if you ask me.

You would not have wanted to ski the slop we were putting down. It was comical watching patrol go down at the end of the day. There were rocks and boiler showing all the way down Upper Maple, we had to make something to bind to it, not a PR statement. It would have closed not too much longer. Upper Beauty has more snow and is in the shade.

They won't make it far into April, forget May with the southern exposure.

As a long time skier of BLK (notice the correct acronym there) I gotta say Upper Maple Slalom is usually gone by now. If it were my money I'd have that stuff packed away for next season. The effort has really been a game changer this year, point has been made. A lot of the customer base is headed to travel team practice on Saturday.

I did head into it a few times at the bottom and almost wiped. But I knew what I was getting myself into.

I'm really surprised to see that Black Mtn. is still making snow in April. Does anyone have info on how they are doing vis-a-vis skier visits?

For those who have been there on weekends and holidays: How are the lift lines?

At the least, it is really good marketing, coming off a year when they closed early and announced the mountain was ceasing operation. Some skiers might still assume Black is permanently closed after last year.

The question is whether it will continue next year. Now that it has happened once, I imagine passholders would like to see it continue (whether the mountain gets enough skier visits or not).

The amount of snow we put down mid-season certainly is repeatable/sustainable with the right staff and if a lot of pipe is replaced. The March and April efforts likely are not.

Do I infer that you work for BMNH? I agree with your comment "with the right staff..."

Repeating my question from an earlier comment: "For those who have been there on weekends and holidays: How are the lift lines?" Ultimately, revenue is the measure of long-term viability.

Black just announced they're planning to remain open Friday-Sunday thru May 3

They also falsely claimed that they closed on March 7 last year and that they were the first ski area to close. That's a very odd thing to want to make a false claim about.

I pointed out there mistake and they have since changed the post slightly. However, they also deleted my comment. I guess that's why the only comments you see on their posts are ones saying how amazing Black Mountain is.

Part time for the company who they hired to work on their snowmaking system and then make snow.

Weekends have been very busy, but lift lines maybe only 20-30 people deep on the busiest of days with all 3 main lifts open.

Kudos for BMNH for trying something bold and risky. I hope it works out for them

Kudos for BMNH for trying something bold and risky. I hope it works out for them

I hope they do well. It might teach some of the so-called smart people in the industry that the spring product is worth promoting and even potentially profitable.

I love that they've been staying open till 7 since daylight savings. Hope they make it till May!
