Bondman Vail has owned it for 6 years. Vail does not get to claim that things newly failing/broken now are some sort of deferred maintenance from the previous owner that couldn’t be helped or that they couldn’t keep up with.
And it’s a 1985 Yan (although on older towers), plenty of other resorts able to keep lifts of that vintage operable.
Regardless, that “announcement” was appalling and is insulting to their customers. Acting like their failure to maintain a lift or inform their customers that it wouldn’t be operating at all this season is some cute little non-event. If you’re retiring the lift, take it off the map and make a normal announcement.
If something is unexpectedly wrong with it, do what Black just did and be transparent about the problems and timeline for repair.
