Hey Everyone, I hope you are all getting on OK with the new forum. Everything appears to be working well from my end, so please let me know if you are experiencing any problems or if you are aware of others who may be unable to access.
We ended up having to switch to the new site a little bit sooner than anticipated, but everything seems to be running well and should be stable from here.
Here are some features of the new site:
- Members can upload media, up to 8MB per individual image file
- Members can save drafts
- Private messages are now under “Private Discussions”
- Mobile friendly - the site adapts to various screen sizes, with appropriate features for each type of device, whether desktop, tablets and mobile devices. (basically a modern “responsive” design)
- New user registration is automated, so anyone can join and post after email is verified
Some things still to do …
- Site maps for improved search indexing
- In progress on URL compatibility with the old site address scheme (some old addresses are already working)
- Will be adding support for 3rd party logins, ie: join with an existing account from Google, Facebook, Reddit, X (additional providers available)
- Feature request to preview new discussions… there is a plugin now active which should provide a preview feature when creating new discussions. I’ve had mixed results with it so far, but will leave it active for now to see if it works for anyone else.
