Here’s how it works for me: highlight a section of text, such as the “how do you end a quote” phrase from your post above, then a “Quote” button appears… then click the quote button, and it adds a line of text to your reply.
The line of text is formatted in a way that the system will recognize it as a quote.
The line of text itself is what will be formatted as a quote … there is no need to “end” it as it will just be on a line by itself.
If you press the “quote” button in the composer to “insert a quote”, it is expecting you to manually format the quote yourself. Same thing applies however, the quote line should just be on a line by itself.
Formatting is done in markdown language, which may not be immediately intuitive for everyone, but it generally works well. I’ve gone ahead and enabled BBCODE support, so there might be some possibility of using BBCODE style formatting if that’s your preference. (not sure what BBCODE tags are supported however, will need to be tested)
I hope my explanation of quoting is helpful!
