Mount Jefferson Closing?

Absolute mess. IMHO I dont think there is a market in Lee maine for a large subdivision so maybe the ski area is safe from that, however the ski area needs major work i will find it hard to belive some one looking for a ski area will go ahh mt Jefferson thats the one im looking for. If the owner was smart he would continue to operate until buyer is found but I have a feeling it will sit idle.

The asking price is $3.5M: IMO that’s pretty pricy, considering that Maple Valley, VT with similar vertical and more than surface lifts and closer to population centers was unsellable at significantly less (although I don’t remember the actual amount they were asking.)

If so, I suspect it would be more profitable to subdivide the land and build houses.

NewEnglandSkier13 I just don’t think the demand is there if ski why haven’t the 10 housing lots he has cleared sold or been developed they have been cleared for a few years now.

MrMagic Developments like that aren’t really much of a thing in rural Maine, except in resort towns. The ones that do exist as mostly sold as just lots and it’s up to the buyer to build. There’s so much land available, new developments with small lots and comparatively high prices aren’t popular.

You just restated what I said earlier: There is no demand for this land for either housing or a ski area at the price at which it is being offered.
