What are people’s thoughts about skiing this weekend with the temps?

We plan to ski Saturday and decide on Sunday based on wind. Sunday was gonna be a short day anyways due to the game. Thoughts?

Lots of layers, no exposed skin, Take a break sooner than later to warm up. Saturday seems like it will be reasonable until mid/late afternoon when the winds are predicted to kick up. Sunday looks like it’s going to be tough between the core of the cold air being around and the likely big winds that realistically are going to cause wind hold issues. Expect some mountains to scale back their operational footprint to minimize the potential response time should a guest need help

Not sure where you’re planning on going, but neither day looks particularly windy or super cold around here. Sunday will be on the chillier side, but not as cold as the last month has been.

The beauty of being retired is picking your days. I got 3 days in this week so with the cold weather coming in, I’m taking the weekend off. Everyone stay safe and hopefully warm.

Yes, temperatures really don’t look bad for Maine. Sunday at BMOM would be a great pick, especially since you’d get to watch day 3 of Last Skier Standing!

While I most likely won’t be able to ski this weekend due to other commitments, if I were to go, I probably would head somewhere in Eastern New England - perhaps somewhere in NH or in ME. Here in Western VT temps are supposed to nosedive right around 8am Saturday morning after a quick 2-4″ of snow. Then it’ll be frigid for the rest of the weekend into early Monday. I think Sunday’s high is 0°F for us in the Burlington area.

We’ve certainly seen worse cold and wind in January. But an inch or three isn’t particularly tempting. Saturday morning seems fine, with temperatures and wind getting worse throughout the day. Sunday just looks cold. If I didn’t have plans for tomorrow morning, I’d probably ski the morning and leave at lunch and skip Sunday.

Looks like I picked the wrong weekend to schlep up to central VT……

Made the trek up to central VT for the MRG special shareholder’s meeting. I have an IKON so I’ll definitely get some turns in at Sugarbush. I’ll be keeping an eye on the weather as I’d I’d like to ski at least a day at MRG.

This weekend won’t be the coldest weather where I skied, but it looks like a take a run or two and go in to warm up kind of a weekend.

Thanks. I ended up at MRG as I figured the lifts were more sheltered from the winds. The winds were strong, cold, and coming in such a way that the Sunnyside double was hit hard. The single was comparatively sheltered I could do 2 runs before going in. By lunch the temps had dropped and it was 1 run than in, then it was head for the car.
MRG skied really well with about 4″ of new on the single side with hardpack in the usual places. Never more than a 5 min wait for the single.

We’ll see what tomorrow brings.

The variable message signs on I-93 in NH today were warning of “EXTREME COLD WEATHER”. Never seen that before.

Temperatures are looking better now for Sunday with highs in the mid-teens and still not much wind forecasted. Sunday looks like a pretty decent day, all things considered.

I will be skiing on Monday at Berkshire East. First time going there in 40 years of skiing. Should be a chilly but sunny day.

I spent today at Cannon. Next to no wind, snowed the entire day - constant snow refreshes. It did not feel significantly cold - I’d say around 15 degrees. We did stick to the Zoomer lift after 2:30 but that had more to do with the fact that there was a filthy amount of powder remaining down there relative to the rest of the mountain.

Yesterday felt colder - did a tour on Pack Monadnock for sunrise. Still not too bad, though.

Relative to some other weekends we’ve had this winter, it’s felt pretty mild!

Yeah about 15 minutes before I posted that weather report it was -10 / wind-chill of -35. Now it’s -7 / wind-chill of -24 so it is warming up some.
