Conditions report:
Due to yesterday’s heavy rainfall and continued precipitation overnight, we are currently assessing significant snowpack instability on Superstar. At approximately 1:00 a.m., our grooming team identified a crack beginning to form on the Superstar Glacier. It has since expanded into a crevasse measuring 8–10 feet deep, with signs of continued movement. With near-record snowmaking totals this season, including depths exceeding 30 feet in places, the combination of water saturation and extreme base depth has created unanticipated structural concerns across the trail.
With the safety of our guests and staff in mind, the Superstar Six and Superstar trail will be closed until further notice. Please stay tuned for more updates as our Mountain Operations team continues to assess the situation. Thank you for your understanding.
Was hoping we could last a little longer before the beans got spilled. Took me a good 10 minutes to realize. I guess webcams usually don’t lie so this one is pretty clever.
