The last two sets of clues (and a few others in this thread) have failed the uniqueness criteria and I suggest that when “a correct answer” is given (i.e. one that fits all three clues as given), we move on to the next set of clues.

Fair enough. Although I like to think my clues were somewhat unique let me flesh them out a bit more. My expertise in areas is NYS as that’s where I’m from.

I’d like to see someone try their hand at guessing my mystery NYS area. By town with a certain music festival I’m referring to a famous one held several decades ago. My area is located in a town that shares a part of the name of the music festival town. By wizardry I am hinting at a synonym of its name.

Mystic Mt it is!

Mystic was unique from other central NY areas in that there were two geographically distinct peaks: one served by a double chairlift that handled expert terrain and the other served by a Hall t-bar with a variety of winding trails. Other CNY areas are either along a ridge (Lab, Toggenberg, Ironwood, Greek Peak) or a single ridge end (Song).

In looking at my clues, this may be harder than I thought.  Here’s the background story.  I went to this area and I knew the GM.  I asked about the name changes on the mountain and he explained that an African American guest told him that he was offended by the name of this section of the mountain that included a trail called “Whitey’s Way”.  The management thought about and decided to change the name.  I believe “Whitey’s Way” was renamed, “Not too Shabby”.

Yes.  The glades between Ragged and Spear used to be called “Spook’s Gorge”.  I suspect that either “Whitey’s Way” or “Spooks Gorge” would have been OK alone, but the juxtaposition of the two in the same area of the mountain was a “straw that broke the camel’s back”.

Here’s my next guess-it:

1) I am an open area, on a Ridge, but in a mid Atlantic state, and my owners also control two other ski areas in my state, one of which was acquired from their founding family last year. 2) One of the oldest operating, if not the very first, Hall t-bars, is happily turning on me. 3) I am located in an area of my state that gets unusually inundated with snow due to its location.

So it sounds like one of the Tug Plateau areas and Hall was originally located in Watertown, NY.  Hmm.
