Big Rock and Dartmouth both sound good for these, but I think both their Pomas were detachable.

Not what I was thinking…but, I believe you are correct that it does for the bill. (I think there are probably others that do as well).

I don’t know about Big Rock, but I do know that Dartmouth had at least one detachable poma,  What was the second name for Dartmouth?

Here is an additional little hint: Brklynskier is correct that the area I have in mind does have a somewhat similar feel and vibe as Platty as well as having nice, old school terrain.

I suspect that Powder Ridge/Powder Hill also fits the 3 clues.  So you already have at least 4 correct answers.  Time for another clue. Not fair to say, “I am thinking of a ski area.  Read my mind.”

The ski area went into foreclosure and was owned by the bank for at least one or possibly a few seasons before it was sold to another entity. The operator who ran it for the bank is still in control.

The financial woes I mentioned took place in the mid-70’s when the place was affectionately known as Berkshire Ice. :D.

I’m thinking the next clues belong to you since you were first with “a correct answer”.  I checked rocket21’s web-site and see that Smuggler’s actually had a poma for a short time in the 60s, so I am assuming it was a detachable, thereby disqualifying my answer.I’m going with Joshua as the arbiter.  Here goes mine.  Should be easy for some…..1) The owners helped build at least one other ski area.2) They are trying to perform a land swap so that they can expand.3) People are highly opinionated about this area:  They either love it or hate it.</blockquote>
