Much more famous as a murder than a speed skier, although he’d tell you otherwise.

How about Silvermine in Norwalk CT.  That would be beneath Mr. Skakel, but on a golf course and close to where Regis lived.  that’s my guess.

That’s it. Silvermine Golf Course Tow. 18 miles from Greenwich, CT - Skakel’s & Regis’ home, among other celebs. Convicted of the 1975 murder of Martha Moxley in 2002 he is currently out on bail. The murder weapon was a golf club. Skakel competed on the international speed skiing circuit and tried out for the demonstration team that appeared at the 1992 Olympics. During a competition in France, Mr. Skakel achieved his personal best: 137 miles per hour – or 220 kilometers per hour, breaking the sport’s equivalent of the four-minute mile. He married & then divorced a professional golfer. I’m glad I didn’t have to use my Whump, Whump, Whump clue.

This appears to be the southernmost area on the NELSAP map.

See how tough this is getting? I live in the area, know the Skakel story and that the weapon was a golf club, but I never would have solved this without knowing that 1) There was a NELSAP area in Norwalk on a golf course (very obscure), and 2) that Skakel was a speed skier. I do recall reading that he attended the lost Vershire School and probably skied at the lost http://www.nelsap.org/vt/judgment.html  Judgment Hill.

yeah, the Skakel thing was kind of like chasing a rabbit down a hole, because he turns up Judgment Hill in one article, but mostly he’s associated with Windham, where he had a vacation home and some legal issues in his youth.  I think he was in Windham NY when the case was reopened.

I’ll have a more straightforward puzzler soon, less mystifying in honor of mapnut’s musings

Yeah not great clues on Silver. I was hoping you’d see the place had dual usage and was close to Philbin’s home.

As far as I know, Bromley had a “marketing partnership” with Stratton and Magic - but was never owned by them.

Said ownership by Stratton and then Magic is questioned, but I thought surely that Wikipedia can’t be wrong, surely.
