Right before covid (or maybe it was the beginning in China) we stayed in Santa Rosa at an Airbnb 2 blocks from the brew pub. We ended up there 3 nights in a row. Got to try most they had to offer. Some were really good, some really weird too. They had some kinda of cherry beer, I did not like it at all. My daughter has returned twice from Cali since then with a suitcase of the Elder. She might be my favorite child right now.

Hmm. Good friend did this with his wife, had her carry a second suitcase of Pliny. Didn't cause the divorce but I bet it sure accelerated it.

Shed Mountain Ale (now Otter Creek, now part of Long Trail) is a bit of a sleeper, it doesn't taste like a 7.4% beer. Their Limbo stuff, on the other hand, is 7.6% and it hits me like a hammer. I really enjoy both of them!!!

Long Trail used to make a brown ale called Hit The Trail Ale, reminded of a lighter version of Mountain Ale

I used to think that the "create your own 6 pack" mix and match deal for $9.99 from Shaws was too expensive, but with today's beer prices it's not bad. And it is a great way to try 6 new beers at a time.

If you think about it versus trying a new beer for $5 or $6 at a bar, it's a no-brainer. The problem is they sometimes stick old stock on those shelves, and you wind up with stuff that can be pretty stale. Especially w bottles, it's happened to me.

I drank some Stiegl when I was in Salzburg on a ski trip in 2003. They said it was one of the older continuously brewed beers in Europe. Started in 1492.

I'm at the beach this week in NC. I typically drink more than normal when on a beach vaca. this place allows alcohol on the beach, just no glass, and I really enjoy a cold beer while sitting under an umbrella after a swim in the ocean.

My beers this week are:

I kind of prefer something like the Dos Equis during the summer, but have enjoyed following it with the slightly stronger tasting Stella.

I have very unrefined taste in beer or alcohol. Dumb, but hopefully fun question for you beer guys: when drinking more than one beer at a time do you sometimes drink different kinds of beers and do them in a certain order? Is there a preferred order, such as a weaker to stronger beer or a lager to an IPA, etc.?

If you are tasting beers you would go from lighter to stronger, pils lagers to IPA DIPA.
Otherwise I don’t think it matters unless you want to drink several, then stick with low Abvs.

Lucky you! I’m on the Jersey Shore where beer is forboden.

I alternate bud lights between my DIPAs as my rehydration beers ;)
