The story was on NPR. Apparently Burton wanted to buy the name snurfer and the inventor didn't go for it. If things had gone the other way people would be bitching about those "damned snurfers" taking up the trail.

Heck I didn't know the answer to my WWII question....

So not according to a N. Arizona professor, "This unit, the only one in the American Army trained for mountain warfare, participated in the Mediterranean Theater of Operations from 1944 until the end of the conflict. "
The 10th was comprised of 3 regiments 87, 85, & 86 and took men from the 10th Calvary & 31st reg.

But the back of my mind says Bmwskier is correct. If only I hadn't thrown away those back issues of the New England ski museum journals............

Sadly ironic that the "father" of snowboarding, via the snurfer (which I used as a kid in the backyard) just passed away.
