8-9 home games per season. How many days do most people ski? I can see sucking it up for a day or two of skiing, but beyond that, no thanks.
Some of us homeowners here in the valley don't have the luxury of being on the Moover bus route and have to park at the mountain. If you do the math and figure I'm up there every weekend and ski both days I'll have around 50 days in at seasons end. If parking is $30. each day I'll end up paying $1500.00 for the season just to park! Even if you park in the non-premium parking lots on weekends & holidays it would still cost me $750.00 extra. That's on top of our passes and any other expenses like food & beer.
Sadly Vail is turning the resorts we loved to ski into a playground for the elite who have money to burn and don't care how much it cost. Just wait until the 2 new lifts go up for next season, got to pay for them somewhere so expect prices to go up even more.
While on the subject of the new lifts, it's about time the Sunbrook lift was replaced. The problem is, they should install the 6 pack on Sunbrook and the quad on the main face. To get more families over to Sunbrook the 6 pk. makes more sense. Plus, it's a heavier lift that would hold up better with the wind that blows straight down that face. Putting the 6 pk. on the main face in front of the Sundance lodge will only make Long John & Little John even more crowded & dangerous! Now instead of 10 people getting off at the summit (per chair unloading) you'll have 16 getting off and mostly dumping into the 2 trails mentioned. I feel really bad for the ambassadors & the novice skiers/riders who have to be on those trails!
