Definitely understandable. But that sucks since I enjoy your posts. Ski forums as a whole are nearly dead at this point.
Losing long-term quality posters is just another nail in the coffin. Hopefully you'll have good reason to come back.

I gave up on AZ a while back as I got completely fed up with the Mods joining in on personal attacks, telling other poster to F' off, and otherwise stirring the pot on flame wars. As AZ is a for profit site, kind of makes you wonder if they're just helping to drive up the traffic. No one makes any $ off of this site.

First we were told that we should keep the negative comments about Vail out of the area specific threads, such as the Crotched Mountain one. Then you went and shut down the Vail thread. The only reason given for shutting it down is that it was getting repetitive. There wasn't any big incident or anything to incite this, and it to me is a clear example of over-moderation.

Jaytrem, I will also miss your posts, and I hope you find reason to come back.

The Vail threads seem to be mostly armchair piling-on from non-Vail-skiers rather than grievances from actual Vail skiers (of which, there were posts about some notable issues from Vail pass holders). Not that folks shouldn't comment on areas that they don't ski, but there seems to be a lot of axe-grinding-schadenfreude.

It doesn't make for interesting reading from the perspective of someone that on occasion does ski at a Vail area and that wants to keep tabs on how things are going. I don't find the merriment in dead horse beating interesting, but some posts are occasionally informative.

Not sure if shutting down threads is going to do much except get folks upset. On the flip side, the Vail threads have devolved into something that seems unusual for the culture of the NELSAP forums on SJ.

My point was that if you had a generic complaint about Vail that wasn't specific to a single Vail area, don't put it on a thread that was associated with a specific Vail area.

I saw first hand how the Crotched Mountain limited staff bent over backwards to provide a good product this season.

I would like to see ski-it build a thread just on the sequence he went through that led to his refund. The beauty of his story got lost in the morass of spam.

Doesn't really matter to me that it is closed because I would follow a new Vail Resorts, Inc. sucks thread where ever it goes. Now if you had deleted it that would be a whole different story....
Since I haven't skied Vail Resorts, Inc. since 3/15/2020, I really can't comment on mtn operations any longer except to post their change to operations.
Truthfully only thing that bugs me about this thread restart is my above letter to Vail Resorts, Inc. is getting pushed off the page.

The owner/admin is not advertised but who he is, is well-known to most members.

Perhaps, as one of the moderators, I can't ignore threads that some of you skip over, but there is no thread I can remember in the history of SJ that was this long with this little information.

It wasn't just because of the VT travel restrictions. It was also my home state of CT placing VT on their travel restriction list AND my employer would threatened to fire any employee who violated any local, state, or federal COVID protocols / restrictions.

Also, we weren't really looking for a refund as we were willing to get a rollover for this season but Vail wouldn't even consider that. Even after all that hassle we decided to get passes this season but when they announced the paid parking we said enough! We didn't get into this sport to see who can get to the free lots first and will not deal with this kind of B.S.!

This year everyone bitched about paying to park at Mount Snow, now it's Stowe's turn next season. Don't worry Okemo will get their chance as will other Vail "ruled" areas in the near future.

We re-discovered the peace & beauty of skiing at a independent ski area and have no interest in going back to the crowds & corporate games!

Oh and by the way, Dr. Jeff is also a part time employee at Mount Snow (Events)

The admin doesn’t moderate. As far as I can tell they don’t work at Vail either.
