Killington: 23/24 season

I 've seen/skied worse on closing day at Killington. If I were a betting man (and I'm not), I would consider a bet on Killington spinning SS to be a no-brainer.

I walked down the headwall, I think the first June 1 on Superstar. If I recall, there was one other walk, but not with the breaks that appear in the photo.

Still a lot of time until Saturday and there is already one break that is an entire tower to tower length. I'm not seeing it...

Looking at the webcam as the day goes on, and also taking into account the forecast, I think that the proverbial "Fat Lady" is starting to warm up her vocal chords and getting ready to sing before the weekend

I still think that the earliest she will sing will be noon on June 1.

Whenever anyone doubts what K is willing to do in the current era, I like to pull out this TR from 2016. That was 50% skiable, the rest was mud/dirt skiing between patches or walking.

May 30, 5 AM: Webcam shows groomers out on SS. An unlikely scenario if they don't plan to spin the lift.

Killington is opening for June 1st. $25 lift tickets. Opening from 9-4.

They announced that they were going to open the whole weekend and then it was 80's and sunny on Saturday. So this was closing day on Sunday. If I recall correctly, a huge thunderstorm rolled in about a half hour after the last chair, certainly making for an interesting afterparty for those still at the top.

It's neat watching snowcats working on Superstar a few hours away from June. Right now the trail has continuous snow-cover from just below the headwall to a break about midway down the flat section. Then cover to above the lift. There farming snow from that deep area. Lower right, above the base. The new snow is whiter. The old snow is kinda brown.

It's also chilly. Lower 40's at the base of Superstar. They'll have skiing tomorrow, I'm 100% sure.

Its top to bottom now. They connected the middle section of the trail. It's narrow though. Mostly snowcat width.

While it’s unlikely to the last the entire day, the typical last day client doesn’t care. It’s the same whether you’re Killington management or a guest. both want to say they engaged lift serviced skiing in June. Many of these guests are the same ones who earn turns in the side country even when lifts are running.

Many will take a run or two and then repair to the parking lot or MTB trails. Will be a good scene with the weather being amazing
